Chance me: St. Mark's, Greenhill, Cistercian, ESD, Jesuit

hi im an international student from vietnam. im in grade 9 at a gifted public high school right now, but will be applying to grade 9 next year to schools listed in the title. im repeating a year because i missed the first 4 weeks of school, which resulted in me not being eligible for several clubs and school’s sport teams try outs, and it also affected my grade.
Anyway, these are my stats:
ISEE: 9 6 9 9 (97 75 99 99) (LOL I know, I’m not sure how i got a 6 for my reading)
GPA: 4.0 (unweighted), my school doesn’t disclose students’ gpa until sphmore year. but im maxing every class so i guess it’s 4.0
Extracurriculars:
Table tennis: member of the school team. (they selected 10 out of 30-35 students), member of district table tennis team (10 out of 60-70 students)
Debating
Basketball
Piano
member of English Team (There’s an entrance exam with a 20-25% acceptance rate).
Journalism: I’m a writer for 2 student magazines: Minus Utopia and LittleBookies.
I was also a core team member (Event Organizer) of a student NGO. It’s called Project Spark. We organized 2 different trips during my tenure and raised something like 1500$.

    My worries:
  • Im an international student
  • Repeating a year
the school i really want to get in: Greenhill- they’re crazy good at debating, and i feel like my personality matches with the school. i don’t really want to get into st. mark’s tho. they seem a bit too traditional and religious. cistercian is ok. esd and jesuit are just safe schools.
So what are my chances? Please help me. Thank you in advance!!!

Ohh and i don’t think i will get good recommendation letters since i didnt get along well with my teachers :(((

irrelevant but, eyy I went to WSC Hanoi as well! I qualified to TOC as well but didn’t end up going, yikes! I’m an international student too, and I’m in 10th, though I’m not repeating.

But still, I don’t think you’d go as far as calling school safe schools, as really, there aren’t safe schools anywhere, and applying to a school you don’t really want to get into is just a waste of time. You’d be better off applying to schools you really love; in my interview yesterday, I spoke about how much I truly loved the school I was interviewing for, and the interviewer really could see it.

Hi! How did you put WSC into your application? How did you explain the competition to the admission officer? Or did you mention any WSC experience at all? I’ve always wanted to put WSC in, but I’m not sure how to introduce WSC since the WSC is a pretty unorthodox competition itself.
