GPA: 3.58 unweighted
SAT: 2120

SAT Math IIC - 740
SAT Chemistry - 680

Volunteered at local library for 40 hours (11)
Volunteered at hospital for 85 hours (11)

Model UN (11, 12)
National Honor Society (11, 12)

Recommendations: 1 from math teacher and the other from English teacher. Both are probably average, not that good but not that bad either, most likely in the middle.

Interviews: They went pretty well, not as great as I expected but still pretty good.

Essay: I wrote about my interest in technology (computers and electronics more specifically) and also about how I'd like to improve technology to make the world a better place. I think my essay's pretty good, although not great, probably 8/10.

University of Chicago - reach

as for princeton harvard yale. sorry but no. basically the average GPA of students applyng to those schools is 4 with stellar sat scores. and even for those people, those schools are reaches. most of them need good hooks to get in.

Well, I can’t honestly say I know a lot all of the schools, but I do know some about Stanford, Duke, MIT, Chapel Hill, UMich.
If you’re in-state, you look like you have a pretty good shot at UNC Chapel Hill.
As for Stanford, that might be a little more difficult. Two of my friends applied ED this year, and the one that got accepted had an amazing SAT score, very strong schedule and grades, tons of EC, lots of leadership, great artist, very athletic, etc. The one that got rejected still had a great SAT score, and a strong schedule and grades, but not as many ECs. So it looks like you have a pretty good sense of what you want to do in life and followed that in your ECs, which is good, but I don’t want to get your hopes too high because of their low acceptance rate and because of my unfortunate friend’s result
Duke- it looks like you have enough of a shot.
MIT- One of my smartest (if not the smartest) friends got deferred. She’s taken every single math course at my school and done well in each one. She’s also a great writer, artist, and musician. In fact, everyone who applied from my school got deferred or rejected.
UMich- looks good enough

chance me please? Chapel Hill, Wesleyan University, Brown University, William and Mary, Emory

White Female
Very competitive NC private school
Class Rank: DNR, but probably in top 25% of a class of 100

SAT: Math- 670, Reading- 730, Writing- 720, Cumulative- 2120
ACT: Overall- 34, Writing Subscore- 9

Senior Classes (Adv = AP prep): Adv The Great Books (an English Literature class), Adv Calculus, Adv French Language and Literature Post1800, Adv Physics Mechanics C, Human Anatomy and Physiology
Junior Classes: Adv Biology, Adv American Literature, Adv French Language and Literature Pre1800, Honors Precalculus, American History

APs: Biology- 5, English Language- 4, French Language- 3 <— AP scholar
HS Grades: all As with two B+, honor roll every trimester

ECs: Beta Club (10 11 12), National Honor Society (11 12), French Honor Society (10 11 12), Field Hockey (9 10 11 12), Track and Field (11 12), Student Council (11 12- leadership), and other smaller clubs (leadership)

Recommendations: 1 from Biology teacher, who was also my advisor so it was probably strong. 1 from Great Books teacher, also good

Interview: Wesleyan- went pretty well

Essays: CommonApp: probably 8/10 W&M Supplement: 9/10 Brown Supplement: 8/10 UNC: 9/10

Being a Chinese male with good but not amazing GPA and SATs is not a good situation to be in for Stanford. Your website might pique their interest - maybe you should give them a link? Other than that, your ECs look pretty normal. Together with average recs and interviews and an essay that seems interesting and well-written but typical, you’re not really in a good situation - which sucks, because you’re clearly qualified for most of these places.

I’ll give it a try, but I make no guarantees of accuracy.

If you want to - I make no demands :P

Well, it’s quite possible to get in with the GPA the OP has, but it’s just much less likely without a hook. Almost all of the 3.5s HYP accepts are “hooked.” ECs/awards are becoming increasingly important!
