Deeply interested in a career and major of Chemical Engineering and considering a double major with Psychology

Any contribution is appreciated even if not a chance (i.e. any suggestions to enhance a resume).
I’m wondering if my dream school of Stanford is so out of reach or if manageable because every says I can do it but I’m not quite so sure if I need a punch of reality.

Have a nice day!

male or female

You present a deeply impressive résumé; I would say that maintaining your sterling grades and score records and writing strong essays should prepare you for admission at least to any UC, three of the six top universities you mentioned (Stanford, Harvard, Dartmouth, Princeton, Columbia, and Brown) and one of the two liberal arts colleges (Pomona and Harvey Mudd). While I cannot guarantee this at all (I am far from any “insider”), I think that your consistent and successful devotion to academics and your extracurricular activities cast you in an attractive light, and that although I have seen similarly qualified candidates rejected from these top institutions (shockingly, in many cases), you will be accepted to at least a few.

Best of luck!

@FakeCat male
@aBitOfLuck thank you! I appreciate the input

You are definitely a competitive applicant for those Ivy Leagues. Low Match- Safeties for the UC’s because of your grades (and maybe SAT), Pomona - low reach, Harvey Mudd - safety. Stanford is mid-high reach just because it is so selective.

I would suggest adding CalTech to that list, especially if you want chem. engineering (really good program, but a LOT of work  ). Of which, that is a low-reach

Chance me back?

This is why these Chance Me Threads have such a deservedly bad reputation. They are full of misinformation. Harvey Mudd has an acceptance rate of 13% from a very competitive applicant pool. No one is a safety. Read this thread which is a sticky at the top of the Chance Me forum. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1525399-if-you-are-asking-for-your-chances-to-ivies-and-other-top-schools.html#latest

Actually for a male, Mudd has a much lower acceptance rate, closer to 8%. It should be considered a lottery school for male applicants.

Harvey Mudd for safety? Pff

@yummyGumballs thank you I appreciate the input! I actually forgot to include MIT and CalTech in the article though I am very interested in them
@Corinthian @LKnomad @paul2752 While I don’t agree that Harvey Mudd is a safety, ironically enough I had just recently removed Pomona College and Harvey Mudd from my list upon further review of both the student life and focused majors.

In addition if anybody has any school suggestions, I am all ears. I might be blindsided by all the hype surrounding the Ivy Leagues and similar schools that I could be ignoring some other great schools hidden along the way.

Any help is supportive and welcomed and I hope students similar to me lurking on this post (haha) can gain something from this as well. Best of luck to all applicants and have a nice day!

I’d love to see some more insight on my profile considering there are newly accepted students to these universities (congrats class of 2020) so bump I guess

Not much has changed besides I no longer do water polo but I’d especially love to hear some ideas on what else I can do to improve my high school career and maybe some ideas as to what to do during summer besides college touring and volunteering! Much appreciated. Have a nice day and a special good luck to those like me panicked about AP tests at the moment!

P.S. I can chance back to the extent of the knowledge I have just let me know!
