Hi I really want to go to Tulane, but I didn’t apply ED (to compare aid packages) and not EA (I wanted more time to work on my application). My stats: GPA 3.57 all aps (my school does honors in middle school so there are a few honors courses on my hs transcript) 33 ACT. EC: founded two clubs, including the tennis team I am president/ captain of both. Hold an internship at a local non profit, have a job, blog, and an ambassador for my club on a national level. I’ve played the violin since 4th and im now first chair. I have not visited campus and I’m afraid that might knock me down since I’ve heard Tulane cares a lot about demonstrated interest. Chance me?
You sound like a great candidate, but the odds are against you. Tulane has made it abundantly clear this year that it is extremely difficult to get in regular decision as they intend to fill the class with as many folks as possible through the early rounds. Good luck! Hope it works out for you!
My D is a freshman there this year and here was our experience in a nutshell: many candidates I thought were FOR SURE getting in did not and many who did get in surprised me. Most definitely your geography applies as there is much more competition in some states, cities, schools, whereas in others, you might be the only one applying to Tulane for miles and miles. But my advice is to start showing strong strong interest now. There is an ED2 option that just went out.
No one gets into Tulane regular decision. Regular decision acceptance rate is under 1%
