Chance me? UC Berkeley,UCLA, Stanford, Johns-Hopkins, Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Brown

Hi!
Thanks for taking the time to come to this thread, instead of the other ones. I really appreciate it. If you want me to chance you back, just let me know! Because hey, if you take time to read mine, I should read yours.

I'm currently a Junior, and I just finished my first semester of Junior year, and I've been thinking of colleges for a really long time, so I decided to join this site and see what people thought about my transcript. I would really appreciate it if you gave me your opinion on what schools you think I wouldn't get to, and which ones you think I would.
Thanks again :)

I'll most likely apply to these schools in Biotech, Biomed, or Pre-med
UC Berkeley
UCLA
Stanford
Johns-Hopkins
Princeton
Harvard
Yale
Brown

I'm Indian, so no affirmative action for me!

Academics:
4.3 weighted
3.98 unweighted

Honors/AP classes taken
Spanish 5-6 Honors
Bio Hons
Physics Hons
AP English
AP Bio
AP Calc AB
AP Spanish

SAT 2210 (800 math, 700 reading, 710 writing)
PSAT [does this even matter?] 220 (69 reading, 76 math, 75 writing)

Been doing the synopsys science fair for three years, won several awards last 2 years [one of those was a schol. to COSMOS/allowed to observe at ISEF and is considered a grand award], I'm working on this years project. (Shooting for ISEF this year :) )

Impromptu speaking chair at my school for speech and debate (we are ranked between 1st and 3rd in the nation, depending on when you check). Speech and Debate State Qualifier [CA].

Student tutor for 3 years
President and founder of Science Club- helped over 50 students with their science projects
VP Students Against Drunk Driving Club -If it helps, I will probably write an essay about this as my project last year is about this and I really care about this topic.
Member in Accent Club - We go to retirement homes and play music for them :)
Piano for 12 years
Guitar for 5 years
COSMOS in sophomore year
[hoping for NIH in Junior year]

Basically, I love science, music, and public speaking, and I really want to get into these colleges. I don't really know how to write a "brag sheet", so please excuse me if this is not what I was supposed to write.
Thanks again for reading and responding
:)

Those SAT scores are a little sub-par. I would say HYPS are reach/high reach, Brown is a low reach, JHU is a high match and the two UCs are high safeties (idk instate CA admissions that well though). Enjoy your Junior year for now, and start worrying more about college during the summer. Good luck!

Your SATs, GPA and ECs definateley look good, just around average at those schools. With great essays:

UC Berkeley - low reach/high match
UCLA - match
Stanford - mid reach
Johns-Hopkins - low reach
Princeton - mid reach
Harvard - mid reach
Yale- mid reach
Brown - low reach

Just so you know, PSAT doesn’t usually matter much unless you’re a National Merit Semifinalist or Commended student. I think your SAT scores are fine. Have you/will you take the ACT or SATIIs?

UC Berkeley - low reach
UCLA - match
JHU - low reach
Brown - reach
Princeton, Harvard, Yale - high reach

it’ll help a lot if you do NIH and try to take as many advanced courses as you can handle for senior year.

You are obviously a talented individual, but your scores are so-so for the Ivies, and your activities and interests seem unfocused outside of the sciences. The Ivies like passion and focus. Really achieving something in the sciences – publication of original research for example – would put you in good stead. Easier said than done, but if that’s what you love, show it by your actions! Best of luck also!

Thank you all for responding! I will be taking the ACT and SATII’s in May, so I’ll update the scores after I take them. I’m shooting for NIH this year, so lets hope that works out.
@Mensa160: Aside from publishing a paper (if my project works out this year, I will definetly try to get a paper out of it), what can I do to show the colleges that I really do love music, speaking, and science? I mean, for music, I compose music, and I’ve been playing for a long time and have created an album, but that’s it. For speech and debate, I hope to qualify to nationals this year, and to definitely qualify to the state tournament.
What else can I do? Thanks :)

UCSD should eon your list, it’s tops is your area and you’ll have a much better shot there than at the ivies.

UC Berkeley - high match
UCLA - match
Stanford - mid reach
Johns-Hopkins - high match/low reach
Princeton - mid reach
Harvard - reach
Yale- reach
Brown - low reach

write some great essays and get fantastic letters of rec and you’ll be good! Good Luck!!

Chance me back?

I think you’ll definitely get into some of them. Not all of them, but you only need a few. It’s really a grab bag so I’m not gonna chance you for each individual school since you’re interested in the top schools in the country, so I’d just say that I think you’ll get into at least a couple. Your extracurriculars seem awesome. Good luck!

“what can I do to show the colleges that I really do love music, speaking, and science?”

http://www.jshs.org/</a>
since you love both science and public speaking, definitely look into the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium :). Very, very rewarding.

Bump 10 char

Thanks for your post. Your GPA and SAT are well above average for berkeley and ucla so you’ll most likely get in. However, for the ivy league schools your SAT is only average and with your nothing amazing EC’s it will be difficult to get in. Maintain and improve your grades 2nd semester and maybe take SAT again to gain a higher chance for the ivys.

Bump 10 char

is your gpa cumulative or 10-11?

Hey,
My GPA is cumulative (Freshman - Junior Year) I’ve basically gotten one B, and the rest are A’s.
If you want my 10-11 GPA, I believe it’s a 4.5
why?

UC Berkeley - high match
UCLA - match
Stanford - mid reach
Johns-Hopkins - high match
Princeton - reach
Harvard - reach
Yale- reach
Brown - low/ mid reach

Chance back at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1060886-chance-hopeful-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

bump 10 char

Since you are a resident of Cali,

UC Berkeley: Most likely in
UCLA: Most likely in
Stanford- Reach/High Reach
Johns-Hopkins- Low Reach/High Match
Princeton- Same as stanford
Harvard-Same as stanford
Yale-same as stanford
Brown- Low Reach/Reach

Your class rank is important for the UCs, but I assume you’re in the top 4% so no problem there. Keep up the good work and work on those SAT scores and you’ll have a good shot AR them all.

…at them all.
