bump '

’ '

can i get one response god damn

Thanks for the reply! Class rank, GPA, and SAT seem on the lower side for a few of your schools.

UCLA- target/low reach
UCSB- target
UCB- mid reach
UCSD- target
UCR- target
northwestern- high reach
carnegie mellon- mid reach
NYU- low reach
Cornell ED- high reach, (Class rank should be in the top 10%-or higher- all 4 years for any Ivy). But, you may get lucky.

thanks poignant. and you think NYU is low reach and ucla is target? i thought it would be the other way around. and by the way my mother taught at UCLA too.

can i get a bump

Yes, I’m assuming that you’re from California. If not, then UCB and UCLA would be mid to high reaches. The fact that you are a legacy at UCLA and your mom taught there is a big hook. So, I think that you’d probably get into UCLA. Additionally, I think that UCLA would be the better decision financially as well. NYU is imfamously expensive (and has bad financial aid), while UCLA is cheap with instate tution. Hope this helps!

yes i live in ca. lets say i retake math 2 anad get a good score. is my sat in the way of my success? i have gotten 5 B’s freshman year (bad i know, this is over 2 semesters). and 6 combined through 10-11 grade (1 of which was in weight training). i have plenty of weighted A"s though (ap euro, lang, honors chem/precal). be honest and dont just try to make me feel better.

In my opinion, your SAT alone will not be “in the way of success.” Although your freshman year may hurt you, your hook at UCLA will help substantially. That being said, NYU, UCB, Northwestern, Cornell, and Carnegie will take a great deal of luck. Raising your SAT may help, but it ultimately replace the fact that you got so many B’s (even if they are Freshman year). But, that’s just my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt.

yea 3 B’s were in japanese so idk about that. do you think ucsd is a match?

UCLA- 15%
UCSB- 65%
UCB- 10%
UCSD- 35%
UCR- 90%
northwestern- 15%
carnegie mellon- 12%
NYU
Cornell ED

no offfense but those percentages seem way off. my mother taught at ucla 15 % is too low. in addition 15 for northwestern? more like 5. lol. and ucsd is more than 1/3rd id hope…

ucla is extremely competitive. look at the results threads. and i didnt see any honors math courses besides calc ab… however, i didn’t realize your mom teaches there. knowing that, im sure you have a much better chance.

i took honors precal its up there ^^

bamppppppppppppppp
