chance me: UCSD, purdue, uni ill. urbana champ, georgia tech, notre dame, u mich, nyu, USMA

Hello I am currently a male that is a junior in a very competitive high school. Please chance me for these schools and I will chance back

GPA:3.46( I messed up 1st semester junior year): averaged 4.1 W and 3.6 UW before.
SAT: 2200
SAT 2: 800 math2
Rank: no rank
Aps: 5’s and 4’s

Activities:
I competed in 2 national competitions for space shuttle design and got 2nd place
eagle scout
team captain
hold cabinet positions in community service and science club
intern at local t ech company
shift captain of science experiment team at local museum
local life guard
summer program at west point and at urbana champ pain for engineering
also did some stuff as a boy scout in leading summer camps, leadership camps, and week long stem treks

I am interested in engineering. My only weakness is my GPA, and sadly the majorities of the B’s and the couple C’s are in my math and science classes :frowning: I will have good letter of rec and counselor letter, and a really good personal statement.

Apart from your gpa, everything else is pretty solid. 3.46 isn’t a TERRIBLE gpa, but since your lower grades are in your math science courses, that makes it a little bit tougher since you are interested in engineering…
with that said, I still think you are a strong applicant.

UCSD- Match
Purdue-High Match
Urbana Champ- high match
Georgia Tech- Low reach
Notre Dame- Low reach
u mich- High match
Nyu- Match
USMA- low reach

Chance back please?

low reach for USMA? also low reach for notre dame? Im really surprised, i thought those were extremely difficult schools to get into. thanks anyways

UMich would be a reach as they value GPA as most important and their admission average GPA for CoE was 3.9. Your SAT score is around the admission average. How are the section scores?

800 math 700 writing 700 CR, these our estimates, but I’m still retaking to get 2250+. So if u mich is a reach, how about the other ones

I’m going to have to disagree with @Mchichioco

UCSD- OOS: Reach, In-state: High Match
Purdue- Reach
Urbana Champ- OOS: High Reach, In-state: High Math/Low Reach
Georgia Tech- High Reach
Notre Dame- High Reach
u mich- High Reach
Nyu- Med-High Match (Poly)
USMA- High Reach

This is largely because you wish to major in Engineering, and the Bs and Cs in Math/Science Classes. If you have a compelling reason, however, that may remedy this.

well the only reason i have is the divorce between my parents. UCSD im instate so thats good news, but I didnt imagine purdue or urbana champ being more realistic than nyu. other than the “compelling reason”, I guess Ill have to bet on luck

Yeah UIUC and Purdue are better known for engineering than NYU.

mmk. thanks alot. finally, what are my chances for usc then? Thanks, it seems like you know alot

UCSD is reach either way. Being in-state does not give you a big of a boost and your GPA is significantly low for UC’s. UC’s emphasize GPA.

I was expecting to be able to go to UCSD or nyu/purdue, but I guess Ill have to look lower. thanks though ;/
