I am a junior in HS.I have a 3.3-3.4 gpa. I took the ACT and my highest so far is a 26. Lately I got a D+ in AP US History for 1st semester. I dropped out of the class and moved down to regular US. I have an A in regular US history. Will this one D hurt my chances to get admission at Loyola Chicago, UIC, U of I, Marquette?

UIC: Safety
Loyola Chicago: Low match
Marquette: Low match
UIUC: High match
UIA: Safety

With gpa, act score, and one grade. Do I still have chances?

What major are you trying to get into? Have been accepted to those schools already? If you have, that D+ might make the school question but if you did well in the rest of your classes I don’t think it will mess anything up!

However, if you didn’t get accepted yet, I think that U of I could be a reach depending on your choice of major but a few of the others are possible to get into!

I have not applied. I am in my 2nd semester of junior year. I don’t know what I want to major in, but I want to be either an optometrist or pharmacist.

Oh sorry, didn’t read that. Well, just bump up the GPA if possible and retake the ACT and you should be set. Although, I will note that I was told by a guy I know who is a doctor now that if you are going into a field that requires schooling after your undergrad, you shouldn’t go for the best or toughest or even a school that is good but expensive! Go the cheaper route for undergrad because when you apply to grad schools, they just look at grades, references and research/lab work. You can go to schools where labs are available, it’s cheaper and easier to get the high GPA to increase your chances. Just think about that as you plan things out and good luck!

thanks for advice
