So my GPA is pretty bad and I definitely know that is my weakness. From junior year, I upped my class rigor and maintained a near perfect GPA. I was hoping that the drastic change upward would be help a lot. I also decided to take summer classes at CMU. I got a B in their Intro to ECE class, which is said to be one of their hardest freshman classes. I also had an interview with the CMU undergrad admissions office that went pretty well. I understand that many of my Reach schools are high reaches, and that the ivys are not realistic at all. I’m not sure if it matters, but my sister is attending BU.

Currently as a senior, I have 6 AP Classes and I have A’s in all them, which will not drop before the semester ends. I also have the hardest schedule at my school for my junior and senior years.

I am in a similar spot. You have a phenomenal trajectory, solid testing and respectable ECs. Truth be told, I’d put Michigan, BC and Northeastern closer to targets, maaybe low reaches. UPenn ED is a crapshoot for anybody, CMU is tough for anybody, Don’t know much about Case Western, NYU low reach, Cornell reach. Your sister attending BU won’t help if you go RD.
Overall, I think you’re underestimating yourself. Top 25% with a 33 on the ACT is very solid. I would look in to some SAT2’s to beef up your profile.

@JerzJim I did take the Math 2 test but I did not score too well – 750. Along with math 1 and physics, 690 and 620 respectively. I did not send my scores anywhere. My last chance to take the SAT subject tests would be 12/5 if i’m not mistaken.

@byarry Oh, alright then. (I got a 690 on Math 2! 750 is awesome!) Yeah then I wouldn’t worry about it too much. I think most admissions people will understand that some people aren’t great students when they enter high school, even if they’re brilliant people. Plus, their sacred testing averages matter more than their GPA averages.

Edit: Also I qualified for the second round of my state held math competition (MMPC). And would being the one of the only minorities applying to UMich from my school affect my chances? There are 3 asian students apply to UMich and I am the most qualified of them all, by far. Would this help me at all or do they not care?
