ME:
Middle-class, white male from suburb of Texas; goes to large, public highschool, applying to engineering at all schools

PLEASE help and give me some chances! I really would appreciate it. What are my strengths/weaknesses? THANKS SO MUCH

I didnt take the SAT II Physics in October… is it worth studying for and taking? I am really unprepared for it and have so much to do… will it make or break me?

BUMPPPPP please guys

Great stats!

UC Berkeley would love to have a student like you. You should apply there. And, Berkeley has a solid top 3 engineering program in the world.

THANK YOU for responding! Haha. Well that’s good to hear! Will my lack of a SAT Physics II affect this greatly? And if my essays are decent and grammatically correct, but not stellar, will that hurt my chances too much?

Generally, your average SAT I score is lower than the average UC Berkeley admits. http://admissions.berkeley.edu/studentprofile

But your HS GPA is superb and Berkeley weighs HS GPA more than they do SATs or ACT scores. For that reason, I think you stand a good chance at Berkeley.

I think the answer is somewhat, yes, especially that the College of Engineering is quite particular about the applicants’ mathematical ability. But I believe you will be able to supplement that by taking SAT II Math IIC which you hoped to score between 770-790.

Yes; but not too much. Because to begin with, you have stored extra points by having a very high HS GPA.

This website might be useful for you if you like Berkeley: [Home Gallery | UC Berkeley Office of Undergraduate Admissions](http://admissions.berkeley.edu/)

Thanks so much for the help! I don’t think I can study for Physics SAT II and get above a 700 on it at this point… I don’t think it’ll be worth it for the time ill have to put in

Would anyone else have any comments on the other schools?

DO NOT underestimate the power of the essay… write a strong personal statement, or eliminate all the top 20 off that list.
