Chance me for these schools?

Hey guys, could you chance me for the following schools? (some if not all of them)

UC Berkeley (aka Cal)
UCLA
UC Santa Cruz
UC San Diego
Stanford
Harvard
MIT
Johns Hopkins University
USC
Duke
Carnegie Mellon
Georgia Tech
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo
Cal Poly Pomona

I already applied for the UC's and the Cal Poly schools of course. I already submitted my Duke supplement (but not the main Common App essay yet). Still have to work on the other college essays.

These are my stats:

Planned major: electrical engineering/electrical & computer engineering/electrical engineering with computer science/robotics (basically my career goal is robotics, but different colleges have different majors)

Class rank: 19 out of 1067 (weighted; I reported this one on my apps)
Weighted GPA: 4.5
Unweighted GPA: 3.881

AP courses taken/currently taking: Chemistry (10th grade), Calculus BC (11th grade), Physics B (11th grade), English Lang & Comp (11th grade), US History (11th grade), Computer Science (11th grade), Biology (currently), Statistics (currently)

(I also took a bunch of honors courses)

Number of times I took the SAT: 3
Highest SAT score (in one sitting): 2090 (620 CR, 730 Math, 740 Writing)
Highest SAT score (taken from highest score of each section): 2100 (630 CR, 730 Math, 740 Writing)

Number of times I took the SAT Subject tests: 2 (going to retake in January also for the schools that accept the January test)

SAT Subject Scores I received so far:
Math Level 2: 710
Physics: 580

How good I think my essays/teacher & recs are: not sure, though they can't be too bad

Let me know if you guys think I should share a bit more info, and when chancing me, don't forget to state your reasons!

Oh right, I forgot to put down my extracurriculars. Here are my extracurriculars (as listed on my Common App; not necessarily in order):

-Camp counselor for 2 weeks at Sulphur Creek Nature Center during the summer of 11th grade
-Regular volunteer at the Chabot Space & Science Center (this is my third year doing this)
-Taken the AMC 12 contest three times (once in 2010, twice in 2011; didn’t win)
-Member of my school’s robotics club (joined this year)
-Member of my school comp sci club (joined this year)
-Volunteer at my local library (for one year in 9th grade)
-Participated in the Doodle 4 Google contests twice (once in 2010, once in 2011; didn’t win either)
-Build creations out of my Lego pieces during my free time (been doing this since elementary school)
-Tutor for an Algebra 2 student (became tutor this year)

By the way, let me know which order I should order these activities on my Common App if you can.

Fus Roh Bump!

Go to UC Santa Cruz, UC Santa Barba, or Pepperdine; live on the beach for four years, and stop worrying about meaningless test scores to please a under compensated admissions officer.

Youhave a good shot at all of the UCs and CSUs except for Cal where you have a fair chance.

I think you also have a good shot at CMU, Georgiatech, JHU and USC.

I don’t think you are competitive for the ivies, Stanford or MIT because of low scores for these schools and no stand out ECs.

@Waverly Wait, so CMU is easier to get into than Cal?

Good shot for the UCS.

I think you still have a chance for the ivies and Stanford, but the only setback I see is the SATs. However, scores aren’t everything and I think you have a decent score. Just realize that there are other candidates with perfect scores and decent ECS. If you write a stellar essay, show passion for your ECS, and get good recs, I think you have a shot. Ivies are really a crapshoot for everyone (as well as top-tier schools).

Anyone else?

Fus roh bump!

I’m going to assume you’re of Asian decent because of your name.
Your SAT physics is really low for engineering… it has to be above at least a 700 to be considered a competitive candidate for the privates :frowning: try to retake it in January.
While 710 on SAT Math2 isn’t bad, it isn’t uncommon for people to get 800s. Try retaking it too?
SAT is also a bit low; however, it might be too late to fix that.
Otherwise, your academic courses are extremely rigorous, and you should have no problems for UCs, unless it’s Cal, which is so competitive for a public school it’s scary.
The privates are a tiny bit of a reach, and if you’re a guy it’ll be even harder (sorry, asian guys have a harder time trying to get into the ivies and east coast privates)

Don’t be discouraged; you should be accepted to at least the CSUs, half of the UCs and USC.

Georgia Tech is a low reach, while the rest are kinda mid to high reaches.

Many people at my school with similar GPAs and higher SAT scores are rejected from CMU… more ppl from our school get accepted to Stanford and Harvard than they are accepted to CMU.

Good luck!

Chance me back?

@YuhikoJay

Yeah, I am an Asian (not Japanese though despite my username).

And wow, that’s kinda weird how more people in your school are accepted into Stanford and Harvard than CMU. Did those same people who applied to Stanford and Harvard also apply to CMU?

(Gee, why doesn’t the “quote message in reply” option work???)

Also, what exactly is the average SAT score for Cal? (based on what I’m hearing from you guys, it’s not what’s listed on Collegeboard’s profile for Cal…)

Haha, I’m not Japanese anyways don’t worry. But I am Asian… I just have a kind of crazy obsession with JRock/Visual kei. people call me a fan girl, but i really like the music and don’t care how the guys look (not very good XD)

Yes, some did. The one who got accepted last year was accepted because he was a really good swimmer winning national competitions or something…

[University of California - Freshman admission profile](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/campuses/berkeley/freshman-profile/index.html)
it’s all on the UC website. if you nose around you’ll realize that the UC website can also customize data into graphs and you compare campuses/majors/years

and for us asians… we have to be a lot higher than average SAT scores :frowning: depressing, but the truth :(

lol i’m spamming this because I keep thinking of more things i should write AFTER posting the previous post:
keep in mind that EE and EECS are some of the most competitive majors Cal offers!!!
LOL which reminds me of a funny story…
My boyfriend wants to do EECS at Berkeley. Even though he has insane grades and scores and has taken so many math classes at Cal, he still felt that he might get rejected from EECS because he’s indian and whatnot o.O. so he applied to this other weird major… informational sciences or something similar… and thought it would make his life easier. But after he hit the submit button, he realized that the major he had chosen was THE ONE MAJOR harder than EECS to get in.
I felt bad for him, but I think it’s really funny. Poor boy. But he’ll prolly be accepted regardless.
