I have a 3.4 GPA but didn’t really try this year & can get it a lot higher, low ACT score but higher SAT score, all honors and AP classes except for a standard math class freshmen year & had to be taken out of honors beacause I was sick for 2 weeks & got too behind, on student coucil since freshmen year & was a class representative & then class secretary, run cross country & track, very involved with my church & youth group, plan retreats & sing in church choir, founded a non profit organization, go on mission trips, had an internship 3 summers in a row, go to Notre Dame Vision every summer, made a service club at my school, do fellowship of Christian athletes, national honors society, & am a legacy, also do 3 other clubs at my school
- Legacy where? At ND, it is important (24% of CO2019 is a legacy, myself included)
- Academically, I'd say you have a pretty good shot at Clemson. I applied and got in with a 3.56 UW (4.0 WGPA) and 34 ACT. Notre Dame might be a reach. From the info you gave, Ec's seem to be decent, with some community service (?) mixed in, which ND likes to see. Definitely need to try to raise that GPA though for a shot.
- What are your test scores? That would help a little.
I don’t know much about the other two schools (except that SMC exists )
- Legacy at Notre Dame!
- Also do A LOT of service work, lots of mission trips & volunteering at local hospital. GPA will be easy to raise this year because I'm taking more AP classes this year :)
- Lower ACT score than I would like, 28 & SAT is 1300
legacy at ND helps. Definitely need to raise those ACT and SAT.
Class of 2018’s stats: Middle 50% SAT 1380-1510
Middle 50% ACT 32-34
For ND, you seem to be on the right track. Just testing and GPA, IMO
What state do you live in? Is your GPA weighted or unweighted? Are you interested in the engineering program at Clemson? It’s one of the most competive programs for admission. Stats may be a little low for OOS.
Thanks! @feartheENGR
@carolinamom2boys live in Tennessee! GPA is weighted. No, not engineering, I would definitely like to go to Clemson cold nursing
The Nursing program is also an extremely competitive program to be admitted to. I’d retake the ACT and the SAT and work on my GPA. Clemson does offer merit scholarships to OOS applicants based on class rank in the top 10% of class,1250 SAT or 28 ACT, that aid doubles if ACT is 33 or SAT score is 1440. I hope this helps. Are you a rising senior? Applications open August 1 and housing priority is base on application date not acceptance date.
In order to be considered for merit, you must apply by Dec 1. Clemson weighs class rank, SAT/ACT scores and GPA the most in the decision for admission .
@carolinamom2boys still thinking about applying to Clemson, not sure if I am yet. Thanks!
