Chance me: USC, U Michigan (Ross) + UVA to ED or not

FYI, the EA deadline for UMich is 11/01/19. Test scores must be received by the deadline. The RD deadline is 2/01/20.

UT-McCombs could be considered, but that would be a reach for OOS regardless of GPA/test scores with UT’s mandate to take care of in-state kids.

Someone mentioned WashU Olin in a previous post. If the ACT superscore is 34+, by all means apply. 33 is slightly on the low end of accepted students for WashU, but it might be worth an application anyways:

The Bay Area is pretty notorious for the AP arms race. If OP’s daughter’s transcript is marked as ‘most rigorous’ by the school that should be fine.

"My understanding is that UCLA cares a lot about 10-12 weighted GPA ( one of the 2 UCs that looks at W GPA in addition to UC GPA and UW GPA). "

It’s actually 10-11 GPAs the UCs care about, and all the UCs will look at them.

“It is not unusual to see students with 4-6 APs/Honor classes in Sophomore/Junior year,”

You should note that the UCs cap the weighted GPA at 8 semesters of AP or honors, so you only need 4 year-long APs, honors courses in 10th and 11th to reach the maximum capped GPA. They may look at uncapped and other rigor, but they only report capped in the admissions stats.

@Gumbymom and @ucbalumnus would know more.

Thanks @theloniusmonk - couldn’t agree more on your comment UCLA preference for W GPA.

@Hamurtle : Yes, WashU seems to be taking the test scores to a new level. Understand that they have the highest average SAT score among their admits.
