CHANCE ME UW SUMMER 2012 (4-year to 4-year)

I'm a pre-pharm biology major at a 4 year state university. I'm transferring to udub because I want to eventually enter udub's pharmacy school and get residency in WA or the west coast. I made this very apparent in my personal statement.

Credits: 22
ACT: 26
GPA: 2.92(I took college English through dual enrollment and high school...got Cs both times...lowest college grade has been a B in non-science classes)
VERY active in community service and volunteering. Volunteered at a hospital on campus, clubs, etc.

The problem is I only have one semester of credits. I really want to transfer, so I'm trying to do so as soon as possible.

I messed up high school hence my ACT score.

Do I have a chance? Judging from the transfer log for biology students 39 students entered the biology program with a 2.75-2.99 last year.

I’ll be honest.
UW doesn’t like transfers from other universities.
Your GPA is pretty low.
If you transfer you will officially be in the “fall” category with everyone else applying to fall, but you may take classes in the summer if accepted.

Adding onto travelgirl:

Also, UW only takes a certain amount of students from their undergrad program to get into their graduate programs like pharmacy, dentistry, or medical school. I’m not sure if you’d be doing yourself a service transferring here without a very strong chance of getting into the pharmacy school already.

Thanks guys

Any more input?

Did I mention I’m an out of state student?

i’m going to be an honest. your gpa is sub-3.0 and UW doesn’t even accept 66% transfer students. Unless you discovered a cure for something, probably not. But good luck :).

Btw those credits are on a semester system. It would turn out to be 33 UW credits. I only have one semester of credits and those two 3 credit hour college english courses I took in high school.

Chances aren’t looking so good. :(

Anyone else?

@udub where did you get that stat from?

College Board.

Is Biology a competitive major?
First, since you said that you have just 33 UW credits, then they will probably consider you a freshman and usually what they review more is your HS transcript and your test scores.
Second, when I attended one of UW’s “Transfer Thursdays” the adviser told us that they highly prefer those people who are ready to jump into their major and who have all the necessary requirements already satisfied.
So, consider this while evaluating your chances. However, remember that no one here is from the Admissions of UW, so don’t lose your hope…

The biology major is noted for minimum admission requirements not competitive.

Well, I addressed that in my essay. I literally told them my plan for my life(which is a pretty good one). For example, I took two math classes last semester because I’m a pre-pharmacy student(I took statistics so I could dive into my coursework). I’m taking public speaking this semester. Both classes aren’t considered freshman courses.

God… I can’t stay another semester at my current uni.

What school do you go to now? It doesn’t look good.

I currently go to a state university. It was my fall back school and it came to that.

I guess I’ll just have to try for winter quarter.
