english/math teacher recs- my english teacher’s will be fantastic and my math teacher’s will hopefully at least show how hard i work in a class to get an A (math is not my thing obviously)
supplemental rec- choir director
i also wrote my supplemental essay about my choir (which my friend who got into vandy ED did last year.)
I know my test scores are low but my GPA is pretty high and my ec’s/recs are good. My orchestra conductor also has major connections in the Blair music school and he has been emailing them on my behalf to fight for me. I think I have a decent shot (the average accepted SAT for my school is 2100 according to naviance so compared to that I am not that far off- and that’s without sports commits who were closer to a 1960 SAT.) I also visited campus and met with everyone I possibly could to demonstrate interest. I know they don’t really take that into account, but I figure it can’t hurt if I’m not emailing them without an actual question or concern. I met with the Vanderbilt admissions counselor who emphasized that Vandy is looking for not only great students but cool people- he told me that they have actually rejected people with perfect SAT scores whose extracurriculars were solely based on academics and showed nothing about what they’re really interested in. I think I meet that criteria and I applied for either a second major or minor in music and since I have connections in the music department I think that can only help as well.
Chance me please!
