PLEASE CHANCE ME Vanderbilt ED

I applied ED a few weeks ago but I’m just asking for a friend to help me alleviate my nerves by telling me how it is and what my chances are. Any advice/coping mechanisms/thoughts on my chances would be greatly appreciated!!

SAT: 740M, 740E 1480 total
ACT: 36E, 29M, 34R, 27S (low, I know) 32 composite
PSAT: 1450, commended scholar
AP Classes: 5 on AP US history, 5 on AP English 3, 5 on AP world history (I’m taking 3 APs this year, so I know only 6 APs is really low, so I’m wondering how much that will hurt me)
Rank: top 5% out of 850
GPA: 3.95 unweighted, 5.06 weighted
Leadership: officer in band, choir, and National Honor Society, section leader for band and choir, I also have had a job for two years idk if that helps anything

I did an interview with an alumni and it went okay, it could have been better though. I’m really counting on my choir and band directors recommendations to highlight how dedicated and hardworking I am in those organizations, and I think my teacher recs will be okay too. Not really sure how everything will turn out, and very nervous because I want to go to Vandy with all of my heart

Did you make a typo? That equals out to a 31 composite
If you’re applying for a STEM program they might think twice given those scores

.

It averages to a 31.5 and rounds up to 32; I applied to the Peabody college for cognitive sciences

My bad! I didn’t even know the ACT rounded up. Sucks, I got a 33.25, could have broken the 34 barrier
Anyway, best of luck

You’re good, thanks for replying!

think you have a decent shot thru ED round. best of luck

Wow our stats are really similar! I applied ED too. Hope to see you at Vandy!

Don’t worry about the interview; I don’t think it’s factored in very heavily. It’s really more of an info session for the applicant from what I understand. I wouldn’t worry too much about the lower AP number either, since you have a perfect record so far, as long as you’ve taken the most difficult schedule offered by your school (adcoms will take your high school into account when assessing things.)

Overall, grades are solid. ECs seem good, but not exceptional. Scores are a bit low, since you’re probably in the bottom quartile (ED middle 50%ile for 2021 was 33-34). However, you’re not too far off from that range, and it could be slightly lower for EDI by itself since EDI+II are lumped for that stat. All we can do is just give you a general sense of what your chances are in general, but I’d say as long as your recs and essays are good, you definitely have a shot. You’re not a lock, but everything is near where it should be.
