Chance Me WashU ED '23

Could you guesstimate my chances of getting into Washington University in St. Louis?

I applied Early Decision I for the Class of 2023.

Demographics: Male, White
Income: 80-90k
Intended Majors: Biology and Music
Stats: ACT - 35 (36 Superscore, Reading: 36, English: 36, Math: 35, Science: 35), did not submit SAT II’s
GPA: 4.30 Weighted, 3.91 Unweighted, a slight downward trend in grades (going from straight A’s to 3 B’s the second semester of my junior year and 2 B’s now)
Recs: Submitted 3, One stellar one from a club advisor, and the other two - one from my counselor and the other from my AP World teacher - are about average as far as recs go
Essays: One of the best essays I’ve ever written for my personal essay (talked about my interest in the medical field and my Eastern European heritage - first in the family born in the states), the supplemental essay was pretty good but not stellar

Activities: over 350 community service hours, Section Leader in Band (also All-State Band honorable mention and a whole list of accolades from band), cross-country (two-time letterman, not going to be recruited), a bunch of pre-medical organizations and the such, job shadowing, State President for a Career and Technical Student Organization, Quizbowl (All-District, School All-Time record holder), Speech and Debate (All-Conference in multiple events), etc.

Other Awards: Missouri Scholars Academy graduate, admitted to the Missouri Fine Arts Academy, National Merit Semifinalist

Also: Visited campus multiple times, applied for financial aid, submitted an Academic Resume with community service and leadership activities, and had an interview

AP Tests: Biology (4)

Current Senior Year Schedule: AP World History, AP Physics 1, Dual Credit Chemistry with Lab, AP Calculus AB, AP Spanish Language, AP English Literature and Composition, and Band (Have A’s in all except a B in Calc and a B+ in Physics)

Other College Courses: Took Dual Credit English Composition I and II, US History, and World Civilizations and took Public Speaking, Intermediate Algebra, National Government, Human Anatomy with Lab, and General Psychology at the local community college

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Do you know if WashU gives preferred admission to in-state applicants?

Since it’s a private school, don’t think that WashU gives priority to St. Louis/Missouri residents although my son knows quite a few St. Louis natives in his class.

Back to OP’s question though-low reach. First generation with good grades/test scores applying ED. The only concern might be not that many AP classes taken up to senior year with the majority of them bunched up senior year.
