I have a high school GPA of 4.2
My class rank is 14 out of 345
ACT composite=31
SAT composite=2130
SAT Math1=690
SAT Literature=700
SAT US History=700

I was commended as a national merit scholar for the PSAT and am a National Hispanic Scholar.

I have taken 5 AP classes and gotten 4s and 5s

I volunteered 135 hours for a local Congressman and was then hired by him as a field representative.

My officer positions include: Olympus club class representative 10th grade, Olympus club treasurer 11th grade, FBLA vice president 11th grade, DECA vice president 11th grade.

The activities i was involved with include: AcDec, quiz bowl, FBLA, DECA, NHS, History Day, Model UN, Olympus, National Finance Challenge (3rd in state for 2 years), and National Economics Challenge (3rd in state for 2 years, 1st in state 1 year which put me at 35th in the nation).

Misc: I've visited Penn 3 times, am from a state that sends under 10 kids a year to Penn, I'm writing an essay on Warren Buffett as my inspiration (he went to wharton and I met him and talked to him for a couple of hours once), I and took math courses over the summer so I could take AP AB calc before graduation specifically because wharton wants kids to have calc.

Can you please tell me what you think my odds at getting in are on a scale of 1-10 and offer any advice you might have for areas of improvement?

Additional Details
My unweighted GPA is something like a 4.98

quick question: where are you planning on applying?

UPenn, i assume, given all your references to it. but anyways, i think you have a good chance, what with your various econ related ECs and GPA, but you may want to work on bringing those SAT 2s up. 690 on math 1 shouldnt knock you out of the race, but a higher grade can only work to your advantage.

i should say, on a scale of 1-10, 1 being the least likely, you’re about a 7. then again, one never knows…

I recommend retaking those SAT II, too.
but in other, You are in good shape. Good GPA (unweighted more than weighted?), solid EC’s.
Nevertheless, UPenn is still a reach for you.

nice GPA and great EC’s. I would say UPenn is a low reach for you

chance back

sorry, i thought I said i was applying to UPenn. I want to go to wharton

My friend is ranked just outside the top 5% in his class and had worse ec’s/SAT’s then you and he got into Wharton. You definitely have a great chance. 8/10

i’d say 8 too
but how can your gpa be 4.2 and 4.98 unweighted? i thot the uw one is always lower than w
suggestions: take some more sat 2’s, retake sat 1 and maybe act too, work on essays, get very good rec’s
can u plz chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/748134-plz-chance-poor-californian-who-has-compassion-chance-back.html#post1062924526

You have very strong EC’s and I think it’s pretty admirable that you consider Mr. Buffet your inspiration. With your excellent gpa and undeniable EC’s…you’re strongly in the running. At worst, you may get waitlisted but definitely not rejected. How do your EC’s compare to your peers?
No need to take the ACT, you just need one or the other and you have a good SAT score. However, I definitely would re-take and try to get above a 2200 b/c that’s your only weak point. Out of ten, I’d give you a 7.5 due to your SAT.
You need SAT 2’s…
Chance back…
