Taking it easy your senior year is not the way to get into WashU. If you really did take a much less rigorous schedule than possible, then unfortunately you will probably not have a very good chance at getting into WashU, especially since your GPA and ACT do not particularly stand out.

I think you have a good chance of getting in as long as you show continued interest in the school. I know people who allegedly slacked off their senior year, but I’m not really sure if I quite believe them. I personally did not. Try and set up an interview if they offer them in your area, I think it really shows that you are enthusiastic about going to WashU. Do you know what you want to study?

You have good extracurriculars and community service, but your ACT score is about average, your ethnicity does not help you and your less rigorous senior schedule will hurt you.

I give you a decent shot but not a great shot.

By taking it easy my senior year, I mean I didn’t take AP Calculus…I knew that if I took it I would probably get a C. I’m still struggling in Pre-Calc, and math is the reason that my GPA isn’t so great. But other than that, I’ve pretty much taken the most rigorous course load.

The OP has a reasonable chance, but it isn’t as high as 50%.

The school’s acceptance rate is about 22%, and the OPs stats are within range for the school but not on the high end, so I would put the odds nearer to the overall average acceptance rate.

i know people here that have lower stats than you, but usually they have good reason (hard school, tons of outside stuff, etc.). if you’re looking for things to bump you over, i’d:
turn the application in ASAP
try to ask for as little aid as possible. we aren’t a school full of rich kids by mistake.
try not to come across as too “intense”. honestly the personality type they seem to pick is more of a FRIENDLY (important) and eager person who doesn’t take things too seriously but still gets the job done.
hopefully your essay was more outlandish than profound. profound is corny. simple as that.
