WUSTL

I'm a Junior in high school currently. My GPA is a 4.3 weighted and an 4.0 unweighed. By my senior year i will have taken 9 AP classes, and could possibly be ranked number 1 in my class if i maintain A's in all my classes next year. I currently have a composite score of 30 on the ACT, but have the potential to probably get a 32 or 33. My extracurriculars are not amazing, but i'm a part of band and was co-captain this year. I have been part of my quizbowl team the past two years. I have been apart of some local leadership programs such as TYTL and YAC. I am also a RYLA alumni and will be attending Boys' State soon. I am apart of Mu Alpha Theta and National Honor society Currently, I have a part time job and I am also part of the golf team. I am an active member and leader in my church youth group. I also play piano there, and have played in 2 competitions for piano and won some awards through the studio I am a part of. I also feel as though I could write a good essay. What are my chances of admittance into Washington University in St. Louis? Is it even worth applying to? It is my reach school. I also forgot to mention I want to be a part of the neuroscience program.

Are you planning on applying early? How many AP classes are you taking this year?
If you can get your ACT up, it’d be a low reach. Your activities are relatively lacking.

@noel597‌ I do plan on applying early. This year I am taking 3 AP classes, and my senior year I will be taking 5 AP classes… And yeah i’m going to try do some more stuff next year to get more activities, and my ACT should definitely be up.

Which 3 APs this year?
If I were you I wouldn’t “get more activities”; colleges will see right through it. Choose something you’re involved in, and accomplish something meaningful.
ED for WUSTL is a really big advantage. I wouldn’t recommend applying ED, though, if cost will be an issue.

Wash U is very generous with aid, but run the net price calculator on the website to see what you’d get. You would’nt want to EA unless you know for sure you’re going to get a good estimate.

Thanks @noel597‌ @Ctesiphon‌! This year I’m taking APUSH, AP Biology, and AP English. And cost could be an issue so I’ll look in to the calculator on their website.
