Yale–match
I would just suggest that he acquire more community service hours so that he will have a much better chance. His other EC’s are great and he has a good GPA and great test scores so he probably could have a good chance.

Do you know that breakdown of his SAT??

Good luck to your brother.

On paper great student, and 1st Gen helps a bit.
Scores definitely great, grades are amazing.
I’m just worried about the ECs outside of sports. If you aren’t playing sports at Yale, those don’t look as good, but I think you have a terrific shot.
However, I wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t get in because it’s Yale.

@Starbound- Math 780 Reading 740 Writing 780 (Single sitting too)

@LolCowz- He doesnt have too much time for other things with his soccer and other sports, yet he realizes may need to get a few more EC’s in there to better his chances

Thanks alot guys

I think he has a pretty good chance. Its definitely worth applying because he could get in.

yeah thats what I told him he puts himself in a good position thats all he can do. Thanks for the input

Oh wow those are really nice stats, i think your brother msot definielty has a chance of getting in, but alot of people aslo have those stats. To set himself above all those other applicants he needs a good essay. I have been told multiple times by a student i know who is actually entering sophomore year at Yale that the essays is one of the most important things in the application process besides the academic history.

Yeah I’ve heard thats the case as well. He has a couple of drafts written and is going to decide which one he likes the best soon. thanks for the input

Anyone else? Ill chance back

very good chance  those are amazing stats, puts you above average for yale applicants i think

Huh? Those look the stats of most of the Yale applicants so I don’t see anything that looks above average to me. I would say you have a decent chance but with less than 8% admission rates you better have some great essays.

actually, if you’re applying early action, statistics indicate that you have around 2-3 times the normal chance. That is, if these stats are credibleble:

I don’t think you can say that based solely on admission percentages as typically the stats of the applicants applying early are higher than the ones applying RD. Are your chances better, most likely, but not 2-3 times better.
