Chance me.

I currently attend a community college. I plan on applying to Tulane for the Spring 2012 semester. What are my chances of getting in? How much scholarship money would they offer me? Thank you for your help.

Does anyone think I can get in?

Oh sure, you can get in. It will depend on a few things, not the least of which is available space. Tulane is pretty full right now, but there are always some spaces that open up. If that works out, it looks like you have done well. I am not sure how much your high school record still plays into it.

Thanks for replying
I hope my highshcool grades dont factor in. I had a lot of trouble in highschool.
How much scholarship money do you think they will offer me?

None, I think. I am 95% sure that merit scholarships are only available to people that start out at Tulane. Now to be clear, you are certainly eligible for financial aid and some of that aid might include grants rather than loans, which is very similar to a scholarship. The difference is that it will be reviewed every year, while merit scholarships are for 4 years unless you don’t keep up your grades, get in trouble, things like that.

So it is impossible to know what they might offer you because it will depend on your need.

My mom makes between 32-37k, would I qualify for need based scholarship?

I’m a transfer with a merit scholarship, so it’s definitely possible to receive non-need based transfer aid. This page is slightly outdated (it’s 5k a semester now) but I think most of it still applies.

[Collegiate Achievement Award](http://www.tulane.edu/~finaid/idxcollegiate_achievement_award.htm)

Nobody here can give you an accurate idea of what financial aid Tulane might offer you, but I would guess that you likely would receive need based aid, although it may not necessarily be as much as you think you need to attend.

Thanks anechkakith, I wasn’t familiar with that award. How are you liking Tulane? I do wonder one thing though. The page you reference says you must be transferring from a 4 year school, while the OP goes to a community college. Do you know if this really makes a difference?

anechkakith is right that it is impossible to say how much FA you would get, but with a family income of about $35,000 you should absolutely get aid. However, as with all private schools it isn’t just income, assets count too. That’s why you have to file a CSS along with the FAFSA.

Thanks Fallenchemist and Anechkakith for helping me. I really appreciate it.
