I have a good GPA (3.8 UW, 4.2 W) but my test scores were low (23 on ACT, planning to retake). Because of this, I'm considering many test optional schools. Could anyone chance me on my list and maybe suggest some other schools? Nothing on the west coast please.

Here's my list:

Bowdoin College
Bard College
Hampshire College
Ursinus College
Cornell College (NOT the University)
Dickinson College
Bates College
Lawrence University
Temple University (Not test-optional, but my scores are within range)

Bates and Bowdoin will be the hardest to get in. here’s a list of top LACs I found that have the SAT/ACT as optional. Research some of these and see which match your academic interests best:

*note that these are ranked in order of the ‘best’ LAC.

The schools with the asterisk require other test scores if students are not submitting the SAT or ACT. These could include scores on Advanced Placement tests or SAT subject tests.

Not on the liberal arts college list is Sarah Lawrence College, which is in a class by itself because it refuses to accept ACT or SAT scores at all.
