THANK YOU!

can anyone help?!

Just curious - how can you have an unweighted GPA of 4.0 if you had a B+ in AP Chemistry?

For “chancing” you - you do realize that no one here can possibly give you an idea of your chances, right? You can only look at the stats of enrolled students and see if you are in range or not. And you are.

If you don’t have a chance then I don’t! I would say your chances are very good, especially if you can get a >700 subject test. I wouldn’t submit math 1 if I were you, most selective colleges don’t even take it seriously. And yeah^^how can you have a 4.0 unweighted with a B+ and an A-? RD 65% chance, ED 75% chance, IMO

Chance me back? I can’t link it right now but it’s pretty recent in the Bowdoin forum, “Chance an athletic recruit for ED?”

I have a 4.0 according to College board (93-96 UW)= 4.0 GPA.
and I know these chancing posts aren’t accurate, just interesting in what people think.
And thank you alligatorblood! Yes I took the spanish and LIt SAT 2s, and I feel very good about those. Definitely think 700+. I don’t think I did well on math1 anyway.
thank you guys:) So nervous. just stressing

I THINK the way to convert percentile to 4.0 gpa is to convert EVERY GRADE using the scale that they use and THEN average. That way, if you’ve got any grade that is not a straight up A (93 or higher) you will not have a 4.0.

pretty sure thats not it

Evidence? It’s the way that would make the most sense. People using a traditional 4.0 scale don’t get to make their B+'s vanish by averaging them with A+'s, but your way does. Using the method I suggested, 99’s don’t help you any more than 93’s, in the same way that all A’s (and A+'s) are simply A’s. There’s no such thing as a ‘really good A’ from a gpa standpoint.

But hey, I’m prepared to be proved wrong. I’d just be suprised, since your method would give the percentile folks a clear advantage, in my view.

Upon further reflection, the correct method for converting percentile to 4.0 gpa for the purposes of filling in the little gpa box on the common app is probably ‘whatever your school’s college counselor recommends’. :)
