<p>Hey, just wanting to know what sort of a chance I have. I'm planning to apply regardless, but this should give me a rough idea of how I stack up. Thanks in advance. :)</p>

SAT II: Math 2: 700, Chemistry: 690
ACT: 34 (Math: 29, English: 35, Reading: 36, Science: 36, Writing: 10)
Coursework: I'm taking full IB courses, and have taken all IB/AP courses since Freshman year, with the exception of Hon. Physics in 9th grade and Hon. Econ/Govt. in 10th.</p>

<p>Letters of Recommendation: Very good letters by my teachers, probably a fairly good one by my guidance counselor</p>

<p>Essays: My Common App essay has been regarded extremely highly by everyone who has read it. Grammar and vocab are top-notch. It's about how this novel has influenced my choice of career and brought about a desire to live in the city. My Yale essay should be excellent also (I'm hoping).</p>

<p>As you may already have realized, Brazilians have a somewhat nebulous status as Hispanic when it comes to college admissions. While they qualify for NHRP, Brazilians are excluded as Hispanics on the CA. Whether or not Brazilians are considered Hispanic, may very well depend on the individual college and how strong their URM candidate pool is.</p>

<p>Also, first gen to college means anywhere, so your parents attending in Brazil counts. You will not be asked specifically if you are first gen, but rather will give details of your parents college history and each school will determine if you fit their definition of first gen.</p>

<p>Like Entomom said, It depends on whether they count you as an underrepresented minority. If so, you have a shot. If not, the chance is really slim.</p>
