I'm going to be applying undecided. I also plan on sending an essay, letters of recommendation, etc. And, I'll be taking the SAT at least one more time before applying--I'm still just a junior.

Do I have a good chance of getting in?

Your SAT is around average, but Pitt doesn’t really look at your writing score. So you should definitely focus on boosting that math score if you can. Your GPA is fine too, and it wouldn’t hurt to increase it (just work hard first semester in Senior year). The EC’s are good! I see a lot of involvement. Try running for a position in one of your clubs in Senior year, because it will show development of leadership. And Pitt definitely likes it when you write a good essay…so work on that.

So the answer to your question is that you’ll most likely get in. Just keep working hard till you get that acceptance letter! LOL xD

Judging from your current stats, I would say that you won’t be accepted to Honors College (1400 SAT Reading and Math combined and top 5% of class (though I heard some people got in when they weren’t top of the class…anyway). Honors college isn’t really exclusive. You can just ask permission to take honors classes and just sign up for Honors college email (for events). You’ll also be automatically admitted once you have a 3.25 or higher GPA for freshman year.

Good Luck and work hard! ^_^

I got in with a 3.6, 1900 SATs and a pretty tough highschool curriculum. I would be suprised if you dont get in, the only thing that might hurt you is that you applied late and they have rolling admissions, but I would say 70%.

I reccommend writing an essay, I hear that makes a huge diference for pitt.

I’m not applying late–I’m still a junior now, so I’ll be applying this summer for the fall of 2013. But thank you, and I am definitely going to send in an essay.

I also agree with Ravencrow-- work on increasing your SAT score, particularly math. Pitt basically has a 1200 cut off, and you’re barely over that number. Especially if you’re interested in the sciences, they want to see a higher math score.

I would also send in teacher recs for the kind of program you’re thinking. That is-- have your science and math teacher write recs for you if you’re interested in Engineering/Pre-Med (for example)
