Chance me?

If you would like me to chance back, feel free to send me your thread link. I'd be more than happy to help. I would like both chances AND recommendations!

You'll have to excuse me if I'm verbose, since I'm known for being very long winded.

Summary of my school:
A magnet school.
Classes are ranked like this (lowest -> highest. GT is the highest if the AP class isn't offered): Standard, Honors, GT, AP.
My magnet (similar to a major/specific program) is IT: Programming.

Sex: Female(*)
Grade: 11th/junior
Race: African American
Family Income: Less than 30,000 a year - my mother is my only parent in my life, as I've never met my father before.
Interested Majors (I'm looking at possibly double majoring): Visual Art (emphasis on illustration and/or animation), Women/Gender Studies (would be my 2nd major or a minor), Japanese, Chinese, or Arabic (a 2nd major or a minor), Programming.

SATs: I actually haven't taken them yet! My PSAT reading and writing scores were 600+. My PSAT math score is currently 530, since I'm in a PSAT Math Class to help my poor math skills. I went from a 450 to a 530 just in that class, so I hope it will help me score a 600+ in math as well.

SAT II: Planning to take Literature, World History, and possibly Japanese (I've self taught myself and I'd like to refresh myself before December comes, which is when they only offer the Japanese w/ Listening Test)

APs:
World History (3) - I did NOT take AP world history as a class, because during my sophomore year at my school we didn't offer it! I went out and got my own books and studied and I'm happy with a 3 score, even if it's not considered the "best" because AP classes ensure that you are prepared for the AP test, while a GT class does not.

US History - Haven't taken the test yet, will this year.
English Language & Composition - Haven't taken the test yet, will this year.
Psychology - will take during my senior year.
Studio Art: 2D - will NOT be taking the class, but will be allowed to submit a portfolio through my fine art class. Will take during my senior year.
English Literature - will take during senior year.
Computer Science - will take during senior year.

GPA: 3.0 (hoping to try and bump it up to at least a 3.1 or 3.2 during my senior year)
Weighted GPA: 4.65

EC's/Other things worth mentioning:
Will be volunteering at a hospital this summer, will accumulate about 100 hours of service.
SkillsUSA member (I won honorary mention in my first competition which was Web Design. Will be competing this year for Job Skills Demo - representing IT - so wish me luck!)
President of Anime Club (2 years; it no longer exists)
Debate Team (will be doing next year)
National Art Honor Society (Currently Secretary - running for President next year)
Worked for a boy's foster care program (ran by my godmother) - designed their website's layout and was the main person in charge of designing the mass emails they sent out.

My older sister, when I apply to college, will be in her final year in college. Does this make me a first generation college student? Not sure.

I don't believe in sob stories for my GPA/grades in general, but I am a FTM (female-to-male transgender). I was diagnosed with Gender Identity Disorder which makes school very difficult and stressful for me because I deal with being called a girl basically every day, even though I identify as male. Would this be something I should mention in my college essays? I would love to help more transgender teens feel comfortable in a school environment and, because otherwise it's pretty miserable. My sex is legally female, but my gender is male - so I will be seeking gender reconstruction surgery, a name change, yada yada. I've definitely overcome a lot of my problems regarding my GID.

I consider myself a feminist and I would like to fund programs dedicated to helping women and young girls who come from underprivleged backgrounds and abusive/unsupportive homes be able to participate in the arts. I'd also like to work on illustrating children books and TV shows, because I think education should start at a young age. I would focus on issues like promoting diversity and tolerance (I'm ridiculously liberal lol)

Places I'm interested in:
Syracuse(A reach, no doubt, but I think everyone should have one!)
Howard
Hampton
MICA

My list is a pretty small, as you can see. I'm from Maryland so please try to keep the college range on the east coast (no further south than Virginia). You can also mention colleges in California, but that's it - I don't want to be too far from my family. I'm pretty introverted, so keep that in mind if you recommend me to a party campus lol.

I'm sorry for writing so much! Again, send me a link to your thread and I'll be more than happy to respond.

It’s hard to chance you without a SAT score but if you can get around a 1800,
Howard + Hampton would to be a match. : )

Maryland Institute College of the Art is really hard to chance because a lot of it depends on your portfolio.

Your UW gpa is pretty low, so try to get a really great SAT score to better your chances at syracuse.

Thanks! I know, I’m working hard on getting a good SAT score. And yeah, I’m also considering to not apply to MICA because they are VERY stingy in terms of scholarships. Thanks for responding. c:

i’d reccomend applying to MICA! and also maybe schools like SVA. i think towson has a good art program as a safety. also VCU might be a good match school and i heard they have a good art department. other than syracuse, i think your list is good and you have a great chance at those schools. if syracuse is impressed with your portfolio, they might even excuse other less strong parts of your application. also if you feel comfortable with it i think being a FTM transgender could be a very good thing to mention, it shows an important part of your identity.

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback maladroite, and I will look at towson, SVA, and VCU. I actually visited Towson. :B Go tigers!
