I henceforth succumb to this thread~

So let's get to business, shall we? :3

I am a female, caucasian (Private) High School Junior from Pennsylvania (Philly suburbs).

Unweighted GPA: 3.3
Weighted GPA: 3.46

*these may not be entirely accurate considering my school does not report these figures outright (my average is a B+, according to them) - I had to calculate them from what I received on my report card. Also, my school doesn't report class rank.

SAT I
total: 1890
Critical Reading: 600
Math: 500
Writing: 790
* I think it's important to note that I didn't study for it, and I plan on taking it again next weekend and again in October. So obviously I will have time to focus and subsequently score higher (hopefully) on the CR and Math.

SAT II
Math I: 520
*the school forced me to take it for some reason. I'm taking it again in June.
in the future I'm taking...
Literature
French
Spanish
US History
Math I
Japanese w/Listening

Current Classes:
AP US History
AP English III
Biology (Regular)
Trigonometry & Functions
French IV Honors
Spanish III Honors (it's actually Spanish IV, because III Honors wouldn't fit in due to a scheduling conflict)

Senior Year Classes:
Japanese History
AP English IV
AP French V
AP Spanish V
Craft of Writing
Statistics

EC's
- Captain of Fencing Team
member for 3 years, head this year and next year.

Head of Asian Club
member for 3 years, head this year and next year

Stage Crew
3 years. Extremely active (I've been Stage Manager, Asst. Stage Manager, Propsmaster, Spotlight, and run crew, among others) in my school and occasionally in other schools as well; it's possible I'll be a co-head next year.

Japanese Language.
I've been taking Japanese outside of school for nearly 5 years now. Unfortunately I don't get any school credit for it. (Although I think it's safe to say I speak Japanese better than I speak French or Spanish). However, I did study abroad in Japan in the summer of 2005 for 6 weeks (through AFS). Anyway, Japanese (and languages in general) is one of my passions, and along with Stage Crew it is my main EC.

Community Service
by the end of Senior year I'll have 40+ hours.

Work Experience
I've just been hired at a local movie theatre to work concession. I'll probably keep this job until the end of my senior year.

I guess it's also important to note that I've also studied abroad in Mexico (2 weeks), and for a school project traveled to an Indian Reservation in Washington to make a documentary (still in editing).

Also, I applied for a summer film making course at NYU Tisch, but I won't know if I'm in or not until April.

Here are some of the colleges I'm considering:
NYU Tisch School of the Arts
USC School of Cinematic Arts
UCLA (I know, I have no chance but I do enjoy dumb luck)
George Washington University
Boston University

I'm fairly certain I want to major in Screenwriting for Film and TV (or the equivalent) and minor in Japanese, or perhaps double major in the two, depending on which school I go to.

And the first two are my top two choices, for the record.

...So, "chance me," people! And don't sugar coat anything. I can take it. XD

NYU, USC, UCLA, GW - Reach
BU - Slight Reach

Gotta up that CR score. ECs are decent.

you desperately need to bring up that math SAT I score...

as of now, i'd say:
NYU -- reach
USC -- high reach
UCLA -- high reach
George Washington University -- reach
Boston University -- low reach

Oh, right, math..sorry..slight Freudian slip there (since you're in the Asian club and all..even though you aren't Asian..), I suppose :)

Yes, math is not my strong suit. Never has, and never will be. Nevertheless, I'm determined to break at least 600 on my next try.

As a side note, I like to say I'm "Cauc" Asian. XD

shadekeiko:

UCLA: Super Reach (out of state)
