<p>You have a shot, but the main reason I responded was to tell you that, yes, violin and piano are ECs and it doesn’t matter that they were not done through the highschool</p>
<p>The asian kids here definitely seem smarter than the average student, so I’d really try to make sure that your essay is unique. I remember talking to one asian guy from California who wrote his on fishing, which was no doubt what got him in given that he wasn’t in the top 5% of his high school class. I suppose what I’m saying is that Dartmouth takes a very holistic approach with its decisions, much more so than I ever anticipated, and while stats will easily get your foot in the door, really standing out with an original essay and extremely good peer rec is by far the most important thing.</p>
