Agree with DannyPhantom

Thanks. I’m thinking with the unanimous agreement on Wharton that it might be a better idea to apply to CAS for economics. I agree that UPenn is probably my highest reach and applying RD will probably be my downfall… But I’m assuming CAS for economics would give me my best shot?

Whoa were like almost the same applicant besides a few activities and stuff. Are you going to ed cornell? I think your chances are great honestly haha.

Yeah ED to AEM is absolutely a possibility. I just thought it was weird how it seems like we have such a similar application quality.

Also, in regard to my application as I had posted it at the start of this thread, I can add on (officially) my Community Service award in addition to 2 (maybe 3) internships over the Summer and maybe two college classes which I had read about that seem really interesting…

Cornell (Dyson or CAS)
Northwestern: Reach
Georgetown: Low Reach
University of Virginia: Low Reach
North Carolina- Chapel Hill: High Target/Low Reach
Boston College: Target
University of Pennsylvania: Reach
University of Maryland-College Park: Low Target/Safety
Penn State: Safety
University of Michigan: Target

Hope that helped!

Thanks neuromajor. Your position on most of the schools I’m applying to is pretty similar to mine (although my position on my stats is irrelevant haha).

Thanks for chancing me
I’d say your weakness is your SAT I score. I’d take it again and see if you could get into the 2200s.

Georgetown (McDonough)-mid reach
University of Virginia (McIntire)-high match

I don’t have too much experience with this, but from what I know I’ll help:
Cornell: looks like you have a good chance, I’d say its a low reach
Georgetown: Match, I personally know someone with lower stats who got in
UVA: Match
UNC: not sure but I think it’s a match
UPenn: Reach
UMd: Match
Penn State: Low Match

Thanks for the responses!

Thanks. With respect to my reaches, do most of them seem attainable? I just want to make sure that I’m not wasting my time.

With all of your reaches, I am sure that they could be attained. You picked some very competitive schools, with sub 10% admittance rates. Of course those will always register as a reach. But, you are a competitive applicant for them. Of those I determined to be some sort of reach, Georgetown is easily attainable, Northwestern is a little harder but still attainable, and U Penn and Cornell will be the hardest, but still within the realm of possibility. Just write some kick *** essays, and there is no limit to where you can be admitted.

Thanks a lot! There’s no doubt that I’ll be putting 110% into my essays and I really appreciate the sentiment.

If I got into even one of the four you had mentioned, I will have come out of this whole process successful.

Also, as I am sure that you are aware, getting a higher ACT score (even though a 33 is really good) would be beneficial. Although not necessary, getting a 34 would put you in better shape.

Yeah I totally get that. However, after taking about 3 practice ACTs before taking the legit one, I hovered around a 31 with a superscore of a low 33. Considering that I was able to get a high 33, I was in disbelief and feel as though taking it again could potentially do nothing for me and show a decline- especially since many of my top choices do not participate in score choice. I feel like it would be a risk in doing so.

Thanks for the response. The input is really helping and I really appreciate the unbiased perspective!
