Will interview in the fall and I am taking the SAT again aiming for a 2050+
Also taking SAT subject tests Math II and US history.
I have a really different story, so I think my personal essay will be very interesting.

USC is my dream school.

First, are you in a low performing high school or a competitive high school? That will make a difference in how admissions looks at your GPA.

Also, have you taken the ACT? Your SAT scores are ok, but you should try taking a Practice ACT and then depending on whether you do better on the ACT or SAT, continue taking the SAT and/or take the actual ACT.

I think your strategy of taking SAT subject tests is good.

On your personal statement, is it going to reflect a hardship you have faced or what might it reflect about yourself and your world in general? You do not have to be specific when you answer this question to me (since you don’t want to give away your essay completely), but when you write your personal statement be specific.

Finally, do not worry too much! Your stats are good for a competitive university such as NYU and maybe, UCLA/UCSD and you have plenty of time to create a great application for USC. For USC, take the steps I recommend and hope for the best! Good luck from an alumnus of 'SC!

I am in a fairly competitive high school. For some reason my school doesnt send many kids to ivy leagues, but at least 15-20 kids go to the other “ivies” like Duke, Vandy, ND etc… I really appreciate your kind words and advice!

My high school was much less competitive than yours. At best, each year, a few students would be accepted to Berkeley or USC and about 10 would be accepted to UCLA. In your case, if your weighted GPA gets higher than 4.0, your class rank goes up, and your test scores get higher, you’ll have a great chance for getting admitted into USC. Don’t stress out too much and good luck!

Improve your GPA, but your extracurricular are nice!
