You have a 97.4% what kind of genius are you? :open_mouth:
That being said do not apply for EECS apply to letters and sciences CS it will improve your chances drastically, if you are not interested any bit in electrics.
Good luck.

@Bored1997 thanks for your response! So what exactly id EECS? And ya i hate electrics :stuck_out_tongue:

haha actually my school till 10th has a legacy of producing such percentages since the past 50 years. In fact for grade 10 with that percent my class rank was still 4 :stuck_out_tongue:

Berkeley does not have pure CS in Engineering. It has pure Cs only in sciences, the closest thing to CS in engineering is EECS combined course of CS and electrical, but EECS has an acceptance rate of 6% while CS has about 16%.

Ohh. thanks for that information!
Can you give me anything about my chances?

Oh my, a 97.4 GPA. How?? :open_mouth: Your SAT scores are amazing. Your commitment to your ECs is phenomenal and you have plenty of experience. I’d say that you have a extremely high chance of getting in.

thanks alot @cottoncandy24‌ !! Just hoping for the best now!

I think you have a great chance. Granted I’m not an admissions officer but when I freak out my chances at a school I look up statistics so I know a lot and you have an awesome shot in my opinion. Berkeley doesn’t superscore but your 2290 is fantastic. Thats in the top 1% of kids who take the sat. Your ECs are awesome and it shows commitment, which they will love. The international applicant acceptance rate for Berkeley is around 10% and if I had to guess you’d easily be in the top 10, probably the top 5.

@jtrain5976‌ thanks! actually my friend who just graduatedbfrom ucb told mebthat international composition of the incoming class is steadily increasing so that should help my chances right?

Yeah if its true then it definitely should.

yup!

Berkeley is a match for you. You could apply to IV leagues with those stats and maybe get into a few.

international students are full pay at Berkeley.

@"aunt bea"‌ the thing is I’m a US citizen so I’m, according to ucbs website, a domestic applocant with foreign credentials. To make things better I will be able to establish residency in California because my dad will be moving there this june

Shauna, if you are not a California resident, as of now, you will be paying full fees-especially if you are coming to California for your education.

California is very strict on residency requirements. Everyone comes to California thinking that the state will automatically grant residency to anyone living here. The state schools are built, funded, and covered by current California taxpayers so, financial priorities go to the children of California taxpayers.

Any OOS, is subject to the same rule. It doesn’t matter if you are a US citizen, the state won’t fund you if you are not a California resident. You may be admitted to your schools, but you will be paying full fees. In-state tuition begins a year and a day after your father moves here, but there are a lot of rules especially if you move here for your education, you may have to shell out 4 years of OOS tuition, you need to be prepared for that. California knows that people try to get around paying full fees, that’s why they are so strict.

You need to check the “residency” requirements for in-state tuition.

As a US citizen, you can apply for federal funds, like a Pell grant, if you qualify, but those grants are so small they typically don’t cover the fees at the UC’s or Cal States. Expect to pay $55K per year at Berkeley, so read up on residency requirements.

As a non-California resident, you are not eligible for Cal grants or Blue and Gold.

Ok then, I`ll surely check it out
Thanks!

rec’s aren’t required and you’re heading down a great path. if you apply L&S you should expect an acceptance, if CoE maybe a little iffy.

Don’t forget MIT, Stanford for CS (Tier1 for CS is usually MIT, Stanford, Berkeley; CMU is good too whereas caltech is more so research sciences)

@5oviet Thanks! :slight_smile:
