hi! I was wondering if y’all could please chance me for Wake Forest, UNC, University of Virginia, Notre Dame, Villanova, Vanderbilt, Cal Poly, GeorgeTown, & Baylor. I have a 4.3-4.4 GPA (5.0 scale) & 4.0 (4.0 scale). I got a 34 on my ACT. I do a lot of extra curricular activities. I ride horses 9 hours a week, I am the VP & CoFounder of a charity club at my school, I volunteer at Leaps & Bonds (where I help those w special needs ride horses), & I also volunteer in a hospital once a week. I want to be a nurse when Im older & Im planning on majoring in nursing (biology if the school dent have it). Oh & btw Im I live in California so Im OOS for most of these schools. Thanks guys! Let me know what you think
I think you have a really good shot at all the schools. Consider expanding on some o your EC like horse riding. How does that make you a leader/confident/nurse like (you learn how to treat all organisms with care, you train the horses independently and consistently, you are not afraid…). As you can see, I cannot assess your EC that accurately, although I will say they seem pretty good and unique (why horses? Make sure to address that). Other than your EC, you are at or above the average for most of the schools you listed so you have a high likelihood of acceptance. Also if you live in California, consider some UC as safeties and matches.
Honestly I say that you are really qualified and your ECs (your care with children with special needs and volunteering at a hospital show that you are into nursing). The hardest school to get in on your list is UVA, I have seen instate applicants get in with as low as 3.2 gpas but out of state get rejected with around a 4.0. As long as your essay is decent I say your into all. I don’t really know for sure because you didn’t include your sat. If your sat is good then try for some reach schools like ivies, you are definitely qualified for them too and you never know. Good Luck
You are a strong applicant. Georgetown has an exceptional nursing program. Notre dame will like your charitable work. UNC and UVA out of state admissions are more competitive so make sure you review their profile carefully. These are appropriate reach schools given your stats. Is money not a factor at all? You have good chances for merit aid at some of these schools and essentially zero chance at others. Vanderbilt gives out far more merit aid than either Notre dame or Georgetown.
UNC and UVA will be very difficult OOS. Without any killer EC’s besides the volunteering, I think they’re reaches. Vandy is a reach for everyone. Every other school I would consider a match, though!
Thanks guys so much! UNC is my dream school & I would do anything to get in Do you have any advice on what I can improve to increase my chances? Thanks so much!
Hi! I got into UNC last year and I’ll be a freshman this year but I’m in state so it was significantly easier. My biggest suggestion to you would be to make sure your essay is killer. I had nothing outstanding in my application but I wrote some essays that were really good (in my opinion at least.) Use your essay as a chance to introduce to the college and shed some light on your personality. I know it’s really early, but start thinking about them now so that you can perfect them by October. Also, make sure you have a challenging senior year course load. Take as many AP and honors courses that you can. Your recommendations are also going to be really important. Make sure you pick a teacher who knows you well and can really speak to your personality. Feel free to ask me any questions that you may have.
ah you’re so lucky you’re going to UNC! thanks so much for the advice & let me know how you like it
