Chance me!

The schools I’m applying to are Cal Poly SLO, San Diego State University, Chapman University, San Francisco State, San Jose State, UCSC, UCSB, UCI, UC Davis, UC Berkeley, USC, University of Texas at Austin, University of Washington, and Boston University.
My intended major is Journalism/Public Relations
Location: southern california
ethnicity: white and Cherokee Indian (registered)
My stats are:
GPA: 3.47 (weighed high school), 3.5 CSU GPA, and with the classes I’ve completed at a community college, my overall GPA is a 3.7
ACT: 31
3 AP classes: AP english language & composition (3 on ap test), AP environmental (2 on ap test), and I’m taking AP literature now
5 college courses: history of film and cinema (A), sociology (A), psychology (B), real estate (current), biological anthropology (current)
3 years of a foreign language
2 years of writing for the high school newspaper
founded iPad academy at my school
Treasurer and Head of Committee for Spanish National Honors’ Society (nationally recognized)

My top choice is Cal Poly SLO.
MCA points: 4305.5275

Thank you!

California publics banned affirmative action so ethnicity/race will not help for CSU’s and UC’s.

SLO: High Match due to CSU GPA (also note the SLO uses 9th grades in their GPA while the rest of the CSU’s and UC’s use only 10-11th). Apply ED and I think you will have a much better chance.

Chapman/UCSC/SDSU: Match
SFSU/SJSU: Safety
UCI/UCSB/UCD/USC: Low Reach
UCB: Reach

Not sure about the rest. Only thing holding you back is your GPA. Since you are a registered Cherokee, you should include more privates where your URM status will be coveted.

Good Luck.

Agree with @Gumbymom! Use your tribal affiliation to test out the waters for some of the privates.
