Hi! I’m currently a junior in high school and I wanted to know what my chances are for the following schools: SDSU, CSULB, Cal Poly Pomona, and UCI (I know this is a reach school but… a girl can dream)
UWGPA: 3.6
WGPA: 3.76
SAT: 1760/2400
ACT: planning to take in summer- aiming for 25-27?
EI: 4158
Currently taking AP Language and Composition and Spanish 4 honors.
I plan to take AP Lit next year as well as AP Statistics.
Also wish to major in either advertising, PR, or media studies. Not entirely sure yet.
Extracurriculars aren’t that special : I’m in 2 volunteering clubs & 1 fashion design club and I take dance classes. Hope to get a job soon but that’s about it.
Thanks!
I would definitely try to get A in all your classes next year and aim to get above a 30 on your act so it would place you above the average applicant. It might also be in your best interest to try and look for an internship to do over the summer to make you stand out from the other applicants
@palmtree99 Unless you’re down to take the new SAT, I suggest aiming for a 28-30 on the ACT. CSUs don’t care about EC’s, except for Cal Poly SLO, but their “EC” section is literally a Y/N question as to whether or not you actually participate, how much you participate (hours wise) and another Y/N question for any form of leadership.
Also, UC’s and CSUs don’t care about first sem grades, unless a UC sends you an additional questionnaire in late winter.
3.76 as of right now. Hopefully I get all A’s this semester and that’ll bump it up to a 3.82!
You have a good chance at all the Cal States (SDSU may be a slight reach) and UCI will be a tough admit with your lower than average GPA and Test scores. Outstanding essays and Ec’s could bump up your chances. Good Luck.
hey! i just saw your post about irvine. Honestly, the admissions process makes no sense. I did not get into SDSU and got waitlisted at UCI, but got into Tulane University. I appealed SDSU and really really hope to go in the fall.
hi! oh wow, that’s different! haha yeah i guess we’ll just never know with admissions systems… But thanks for sharing and congrats!! Hope you get into SDSU, best of luck!
