I’m a female student with a UC GPA of 3.86 and I got a 32 on my ACT. I have participated in a lot of extracurricular activities that help show my enthusiasm for my intended major. I’m applying with the intended major of religious studies. I created an entire youth program and worship band at my church. My personal statements are also well-written and clever. I have taken 5 AP classes and 2 UC honors classes. I’m taking 3 AP classes my senior year. Will colleges take those grades into consideration? What do you think my chances are of getting into UCSB?
A 3.86 UC GPA is a tad on the lower side, but your standardized testing score makes up for it. I believe you have a decent shot at getting into UCSB. And no, senior year grades are not factored into the initial admission wave, however, they may play a role in determining whether or not you will be accepted if you are waitlisted or if you receive a supplemental questionnaire.
