Chance me???

Hey everyone! I’m a US citizen senior at a private high school in the Middle East & I was just wondering my chances of getting into this amazing university. I also plan on majoring in psychology and enrolling in a pre med program.

GPA;
9th grade: 1st semester: 88.9% (major family drama with my sick grandfather being forced to move in with us), 2nd semester; 97.7%
10th grade; 1st semester 98.7%, 2nd semester 98.9%
11th grade; 1st semester 96.8%, 2nd semester 97.5%
12th grade; (hopefully a 98%+)

SAT;
930/1600 (I’ve read that applicants who are outside the US are not required to send in SAT scores, so I’m not going to send this in)

EC’s;
-Student body president. (3 years)

  • Book club (founder & president for 4 years)
    -Basketball team (4 years)
    -Member of a major organization that helps out with refugee camps (2 1/2-3 years)
    -Member of another organization that helps out numerous orphanage homes (3 years)
    -Part of a medical program at a very large cancer hospital & was deeply involved in volunteering (volunteered for 4 years, did more extensive work within the hospital for 2 years)
    -Chess club (3 years)
    -Stayed after school to tutor classmates many different subjects throughout my years in high school
    -Swimming club (4 years)
    -Organized a few fundraisers for charity
    -Volunteered to stay after school to help out teachers with paperwork, decorate the school, clean up classes, tutoring (as mentioned), etc… (200+ hours)

Awards;
-Certificates of appreciation for second semester 9th grade & both semesters of 10th & 11th grade for academic excellence.
-Gold metal from a fundraiser held in my school for raising the most money

Rank;
My school doesn’t rank us, but I’ve constantly been top 3-5% of my grade.

Letters of recommendations;
I’ve gotten many amazing letters of recommendations from my principle, counselor & 4 teachers.

My school runs on their own specific course curriculum, so unfortunately it doesn’t offer any IB/AP/Honors classes. I did try to speak to my principle & student counselor in regards to this, but it didn’t work.

With all that being said, what are my chances for admission? Northeastern has always been one of my dream schools & I’m prepared to do anything to be accepted. If I were to submit amazing letters of recommendations, write an outstanding essay, stack up on some more ECs & study very hard for the Dec SAT test (even though I have no plans to send in any SAT scores, but just in case), are my chances looking good?

bump!!!

Are you full pay or are you applying for financial aid? That makes a significant difference for international students

You have a good chance but apply EA.

@suzyQ7 I will be applying for financial aid. How does that make a significant difference?

@londondad I was thinking about doing that, but I don’t think I’ll be able to finish my college essay by November because of first quarter exams :confused: will my chances of acceptance decrease if I don’t apply EA?

If you are a US citizen you are not an international applicant. SAT/ACT scores would be required. Call Northeastern to confirm.

@TomSrOfBoston According to their website, SAT scores are NOT required from students who are attending a secondary school outside the US.

^
@Yurrrzun you are
correct. The SAT requirement is by location not nationality. My son got
$15k merit scholarship but he did apply EA.

@londondad wow, congratulations! If you don’t mind me asking, what were his stats?

His SATs were not great, but he had 3 A-stars, 6 A’s and one B on his GSCEs. It helped that Northeastern is test optional for internationals.

@londondad those are some stellar grades! How were his EC’s?
