Thankyou!

You are a solid candidate, mbut the fact that you need FA is going to be an issue. Combined with your SAT score, I think you need safer options. Good luck.

@Lindagaf The lesser competitive schools don’t give financial aid to international students or give very less financial aid. So, what do you recommend?

You are a strong candidate. Keep doing what you’re doing.

Good Luck.

In terms of admission, F & M and Trinity (Hartford, right?) are probably your best bet, given your SAT score, which is just below average for those schools. Your IB grades are really good, so it’s obvious that you are a good student. But you need a LOT of aid. There is a lot I dont know, like how much your parents earn and what they can afford. That will be taken into account. If you had a top SAT score, you would have an easier time. I don’t know if you are a junior or a senior. I am guessing you won’t be able to retake the SAT. If you retake it and get the score up by 100 points, it might help, as some of your reaches are more generous with FA for internationals.

I just googled and found a list of colleges that give international students financial aid. It was on lendedu, but I can’t link it, it will be blocked. Realistically, I can’t see you getting into any of the other colleges. The colleges that will give you a lot of aid will want really high tests scores. Your score IS good, but at all your reach scholls, it’s around the 25th percentile. That is unfortunately a problem for you.

Have a look at the colleges on the list I mentioned. Generally, the less selective the college, the less aid offered to foreign students. BUT, if the list I mentioend is to be believed, you should look at Union College and Skidmore College, where you would be a very competitive candidate. Also, St. John’s University. Apparently they are in the top four for offering the most International aid. I don’t know much about St. John’s, but Union and Skidmore are both very respectable and fit in well with the LAC vibe you are obviously looking for. I think you need to contact the FA offices at the colleges you are interested in and just ask how much aid they give interntional students. No point wasting money on app fees when you will not be able to afford the college. Good luck.
