What is your budget? Are you a Canadian citizen or permanent resident?

Assuming yes to the latter question, there is very little financial aid at US universities for international students. NYU is very expensive and generally known for poor aid. You should figure on paying somewhere around $300,000 in US dollars for four years. This is of course nearly $400,000 in Canadian dollars.

After graduation getting a visa to work in the US is very uncertain, and is a hot political issue. Thus the availability of visas to work in the US four years from now is not possible to accurately predict. Also, Canadian employers prefer to hire graduates from Canadian universities. Many years ago I was a strong Canadian student who had just graduated from a very highly ranked US university (in a different major), and this problem hit me big time.

There are many very good Canadian universities with very strong music departments. As such, I don’t understand why you are considering one of the very most expensive US schools for music.

I’m a Permanent Resident.

Money isn’t an issue, as my parents are willing to pay for most of it if I go.

I’m considering NYU for music business because 1) New York is where a lot of the music business is and 2) It’s the best music + business program I saw. I’m not sure if there are any other programs in Canada that combine Music and Business together that well, and I haven’t done much research into Canadian Universities at the moment.

Do you have any alternate suggestions that could be a good chance for me to get into?
