Chance Me

Is there any way i can get in without going to a regional campus first. Im looking to take the act and sat again next fall

In State Male (White)
GPA: 3.38 Class Rank Top 40%
SAT:550 math 480 reading
ACT:24

Ec’s:
Im too lazy to list these but I do have a part time job.

The best way to figure your "chances" are to match yourself up with the class profile.

The most recent profile came from the 2006 freshman class:

50% of the students had between a 24-29 on the ACT (I'd bump that up at least a point this year, probably more like 25-30 or 26-30)

80% were from the top 25% of the class (probably a bit higher this year)

Two-thirds had both a 24+ AND were from the top 25% (once again, I'd say higher this year).

I would say that, while both your class rank and test scores are respectable, they seem to be on the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to admitted students. Probably the way to help your chances would be to improve your class rank pretty significantly, or score better on ACT...but honestly, I think it will probably depend on the applicant pool, 'cause every year is different.

Need to repost this

Anyone Else? Osufunguy?

Well, your test scores and GPA aren't anything to rave about, seeing as almost 90% of students have a combined SAT verbal/math of 1090.

Stating your GPA doesn't really help because OSU looks at class rank instead.

But still, you seem to have a plethora of cool experiences OUTSIDE of the classroom, and additionally, your medical condition will also factor in.

I would encourage you to add that portion to the application, as there is a section reserved for that, at least on last year's. Anything would help.

Really, I think it's a toss-up, b/c I have no idea how the admissions office would go about reviewing your application. Good luck though!

Thanks... What if your school doesn't do class rankings? I do plan on retaking the SATs and ACTs

person1, I am no expert by any means, but my daughter will be attending OSU in the fall. She has quite a few friends who will be going to OSU, also. All of them had ACT scores of 26 or higher and were no lower than the top 20% of their class. Those students she knows who don't meet those standards are going to the branch campuses. This information is anecdotal in nature, so I don't know how much help it is. My advice would be to re-take the ACT or SAT and do the best you can in class in order to raise yourGPA/class rank.

Good luck.
