Match? Maybe slight reach?

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I see 45 ppl have viewed this but none have replied.
I meant to chance me for only USC.

Thank you.

funny lolz. in the end i end up chancing you even though i could tell you on MSN right now...but like you said...45 people viewed and no one said anything...starting to pity you Philip. lolz.

Fine Fine
Let's just say you have a better chance than me because you're in-state and you have IB. With all schools in Cali you'll have a much higher chance of getting in than the other schools so i guess USC is the same. Plus you have IB which USC likes...(that's what i heard).

Their SAT median range is 1990-2220 according to their 07 brochure. So, based on SATs alone it'll be a reach (also since you're Asian). But your GPA is well above their average, so that gives you a boost. Your activities seem above average, too. You probably have a higher chance than not of getting in.

i found these stats of enrolled students online, it's only a sample but it'll give you an idea:

Screen Name: Runner22 Currently Enrolled: USC Year: Sophomore
Sex: Female Major: Biomedical Engineering
HS GPA: 4.5 SAT: 2200 ACT: 34

Currently Enrolled: USC Year: Sophomore
Sex: Female Major: Accounting and Business Administration
HS GPA: 4.3 SAT: 2170 ACT: 32

Currently Enrolled: USC Year: Freshman
Sex: Male Major: Business Administration
HS GPA: 4.1 SAT: 2060

Currently Enrolled: USC Year: Freshman
Sex: Male Major: Biomedical Engineering and Philosophy
HS GPA: 3.9 SAT: 2390

Currently Enrolled: USC Year: Freshman
Sex: Male Major: Health Promotion Disease Prevention
HS GPA: 4.7 SAT: 2220

Here are more comparisons as well:

Thanks guys.

Haha, funny how the business majors have lower SAT averages :P
Am retaking my SATs, hopefully for 2100+.

Btw, what I noticed is that a lot of the people on http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/294755-official-usc-class-2011-decisions-thread.html?highlight=Official+decisions are not attending USC - some are off to even higher ranked schools.

There is a pretty good reason for that. Once we get around to decision time, people will post their stats on any college that they got into. Suddenly, there will be a lot more people posting on this board. Thus, people who have never posted on this board before, but got into USC, will post here, even though they have never really had any intention of going to the school. It's the one time of the year that people really travel all around CC!

yup, yup makes sense. It was just a bit intimidating to see all those tough guys with 2300s :)

don't forget to chance me!

I don't chance people- I'm too tied to USC. But I will gladly answer questions or give advice!

It's difficult for us here to chance you because your GPA is confusing (don't worry, USC will figure it out.) Your ec's are all over the place so you need to focus on the important ones (your passions), write some great essays and you'll have a shot.

Haha, I like how you say USC will figure it out ;)

The thing about my EC's is that there's so little offered I can't even 'explore my passions' so I've been trying to start new things at our school, to make it more Americanized, for lack of a better word. Back in 9th grade, there were only sports, yearbook, and student council. I'm not like the typical I'm-making-a-bunch-of-clubs-just-to-beef-up-my-college-app. It was just sad.

Ideally, if I were in the states I'd join clubs like FBLA. Then I thought about how our school didn't even have the basic science, service, drama, chess clubs, so that's why I stuck with those instead.

I guess I'll have to expand on that in my essay(s)

what does a 3.8 equate to in numbers?

numbers? Mostly A's and A-'s. B's twice or thrice.

Btw, a 3.8 was as high it got..no one got a 4.0, nor was it possible because our school doesn't offer AP courses and doesn't weigh IB courses.

Chances??
