summer:
i have about 100 hours at the local hospital
want to get another volunteering job over the summer
want to go to a summer program such as MIT WTP or SSP; going to apply

i kno half the things mean nothing but can you chance me please ^__^

Okay so I went to MIT WTP during the summer before my senior year (4.5 years ago), and I can tell you that that is a total waste of time if you know much about math, electronics, and programming when you go in - assuming, of course, that it hasn't significantly improved. You also won't learn much about the atmosphere of MIT, because the students are gone for the summer and the place feels deserted (or maybe I did learn something...). I had fun and made lots of friends, but there are just so many better things that a bright and motivated person like you can do with her summer. Really. You are WAY, WAY better off researching in some random dude's lab or, much better yet, being in a program like RSI.

^ no way will i get into RSI.

and, well, i don't know anything about electronics or programming..,.al tho i do know a bit about math..

hii guys. bump

I don't chance people (because I don't know how), but it looks like you're on the right track. Your chances will probably depend more on your essays and how you portray your interest in math/science/engineering than anything else. I was just recently accepted, and admittedly, my stats are nowhere near yours.

What kind of major are you looking at? And what other schools?

I agree with aurona. You have very strong stats, but Caltech isn't like the Ivy Leagues- a passion for science and/or math is more important than the numbers. That being said, I think if you supplement everything you've mentioned here with application essays that reveal true curiosity and personal love for science, your application will be near irresistible.

Have you tried talking to their tennis coaches? Though you're USTA Level 3, talking to their coaches might help you a bit.

^hmm. but there are WAY too many better tennis players than me =P

^^ yeah, but Caltech students don't really go there to play sports, I think, so there are probably fewer Caltech students who talk to coaches while in the applying process. But I think Caltech doesn't really care that much about sports, actually, so I doubt that would help... though you could always try...

lol yeah caltech is totally blind to anything cept stats and ECs and essays...like no race or gender
