want to go to a summer program such as MIT WTP or SSP; going to apply

i kno half the things mean nothing but can you chance me please ^__^

I get really frustrated when people want to apply to the UC system but obviously don't know anything about it? Idiot.

^^ what do you mean?

To the OP: I'd say you'd have a good shot, as there are no visible weaknesses, but know that OOS admission is a crapshoot. One would think that it could go either way for you (slight reach), but I'd be slightly on the side of acceptance. So about a slight reach - high match (50-60%).

lol thanks what should i know about it?????? huh

recs? Also, this is a prime example of the thread I just posted. Ask if this person even knows that UC calculates the GPA differently. "Idiot" is probably a little harsh but it just makes me mad that Berkeley has no real way of knowing who truly wants to go to their school and who's just applying for the hell of it or as a backup to Ivies.

also, a person who can't spell and uses stupid acronyms like lol should give up while they're ahead. There's a difference between intelligence and "book smart."

lol yes i do. whatever.

Why would you post your W and UW GPA instead of a UC GPA then. don't lie. You're obviously ignorant enough to ask about recs.

are you *ing kidding me? and you think you're more intelligent? there's a *ing difference between studying for your grades and not...and how the hell can you know the difference just by seeing what i posted on an online forum.
cuz i have no ****ing clue how to calculate my UC GPA. i just copied and pasted it in a couple of schools and i don't really care anyways

Easy. By gap between the way you type and your supposed grades/test scores. You are aware that "book-smart" alone doesn't get you anywhere, right?

I know someone will invariably attack me for harping on her grammar (or lack thereof). The fact of the matter is that if you type like that it's painfully obvious that your intelligence isn't really innate.

"i don't really care anyways"

Exactly
Riiight. You're probably not very intelligent, either, if you think that the only way to get straight As and high test scores is to study your ass off.

And this is the internet, I don't have to type with correct grammar if I don't want to. Brian Lawrence could probably type like this, does that mean anything?

And I never said that I cared about your stupid school, I just wanted to know whether or not I could get in. Do most people REALLY want to go to EVERY school they might have a slight chance of applying to? I doubt it.

Your comprehension skills obviously aren't high either.

YOU
"if you think that the only way to get straight As and high test scores is to study your ass off"

ME:
"it's painfully obvious that your intelligence isn't really innate."

Definitions of innate on the Web:

unconditioned: not established by conditioning or learning

"it's painfully obvious that your intelligence isn't really innate."
you can't acquire intelligence anyways, silly

"And I never said that I cared about your stupid school, I just wanted to know whether or not I could get in. Do most people REALLY want to go to EVERY school they might have a slight chance of applying to? I doubt it."

I already adressed this. This is what gripes my ass. At least you confirm it instead of pretending you actually care about Berkeley. The only reason you're applying to it is because it has a good reputation. Idiots like you who potentially take away spots from those who have a life and don't study from stupid SAT books every minute **** me off
it doesn't have half the reputation of my first, second, third, fourth...7th choice college. And I'm a junior, I still have a year to think about stuff like this. Do you really expect me to have every little detailed planned out? There must have been a point where you had no clue about Berkeley either, but still considered the possibility of applying.

Just because you have lower scores than me doesn't mean that you have more of a life than me. Just because i ENJOY doing math proofs for competitions and YOU like to i don't know, do whatever the hell you do during your free time doesn't mean you deserve to get into the school more. If you had even a modicum of intelligence and you go to school you should have better SAT scores than you do. who the **** studies from SAT books every minute? what a ****ing waste of time. And it's not like you've never opened an SAT book, either. So don't be so narrow-minded that you think anyone who has higher scores than you MUST have studied more. Life's not fair, mmkay?

oh please. Your pathetic posting history is proof you have no friends.

Haha, how many stars is it going to take you to realized that cussing's censored?

PS: My scores aren't that far away from yours and I think I studied from one prep book ever. I'm obviously smarter. On that note, I'm done with this thread because I have better things to do than to argue with some brainless retard.

oh so everyone who has more posts than you have no friends?
um...they're pretty far apart. and my PSAT/SATII scores came not from books but from my school's curriculum...now you probably have no clue what it's like coming from a competitive school cuz, well, you come from Kansas....

I'm sorry if you don't like that fact that i'm going to end up at a better school than whatever UC school you want to apply to and then end up making more money than you.

On that note, why were we arguing about SATs anyways? Everyone knows that SATs don't determine intelligence. Have you ever tried, I don't know, stuff besides school (SATs, Clubs, etc?) They're much better at determining your intelligence. Or is school the only thing that you're good at?
