the uc system
northwestern
vanderbilt

rejected from:
pomona

and i was waitlisted at uchicago, but i should point out that the essays i wrote for uchicago were by far my worst because i was on vacation and was only applying because i have some legacy.

APs: Bio (5), Chem (5), Calc AB (5), English Lang (4)
Senior Year Courseload: AP English Lit, AP Government, AP Calculus BC, AP German, Physics, and a TA period
Awards: National Merit Commended Student, AP Scholar, NHS and CSF, and “Honor Chain” and “Face of the Future” (Local Awards).

ECs: Science Olympiad (co-founder and co-president, perform well regionally for a new team), Tennis (10-11 JV, 12 Varsity), Art (two 9-week courses at UCSD Extension, one in painting and one in drawing), played violin in school orchestra in 9th grade.
Volunteer/Community Service: 121 hrs 9th-10th grade volunteering at local Emergency Room, 10 hr 11th grade tutoring for NHS.
Other: I spent four weeks in Germany between my sophomore and junior year in an exchange program with a host family in a small town. I wrote about this for my common app essay.

Essays: Average I think. My common app was pretty good, but none of it was extraordinary.
Teacher Letters of Rec: One from the English teacher I TA for and the other from a notoriously kind Calc teacher. Both were pretty good I think.
Counselor Letter: She has a looot of students and I don’t know her that well. The few times I have interacted with her have either been very good or they have been me struggling to take a class she didn’t think I was ready for. So decent.

High School: Good, for a public school
Ethnicity: White
Background: My parents moved here from the Netherlands twenty years ago. I made sure to mention the experiences that gave me in my common app essay.

oookay I think that is about it. two days!

Why does it matter?! Just wait two days and you'll find out. Everyone has to do it, and being told you got in and then finding bad news sucks, so just wait and see what the decision is. You will probably get like two people's opinions in the time period before you actually find out.

i agree with ballpark. Honestly, you're either in or out (unless you're waitlisted). It doesn't matter what any of us say. Imagine if all of us say you're definitely in but you find out you didn't get in. What is the point of feeling good for 2 days only to feel even worse. If all of us say no, and you do get in, then good for you! But what we say isn't gonna help you much. Just wait it out like the rest of us :]

Is English your first language?

Anyways, just wait a few days!

There's nothing you can do about it. You're gonna recieve your decision in two days.

Just sit back and relax ...

And join the OFFICIAL BROWN CLASS OF 2013 DESSERT VOTING CONTEST!!! :D
