You’re planing to illegally apply to Yale (if you get into Columbia ED), your recs “Are gonna be seriously jaw dropping”, you plan to get a 2400 SAT even though you had to work hard to get a 2080, and your essays are going to be incredible too? If this forum was a supplement for Yale, you would not get in. No school wants a conceited student, no matter what your grades or ECs are. Your grades are also not very good (assuming the 3.6 is unweighted), but the upward trend almost makes them forgivable. Your ECs are fine, but the rest of your application is bringing you down. And don’t count on every other factor magically (or otherwise unrealistically) becoming amazing. You probably will have to settle for an SAT around 2100, decent essays, and standard recs. If you don’t come to accept that and apply to schools in your league, you may find yourself without any acceptances. You can still get into a very good school, I would just stay clear of the ivy league (except for maybe a dream school).

Look bro I’m not here for any negativity and I understand where you are coming from. I plan on working extremely hard this summer and you can hold w.e opinion you want I am still willing to listen to it. My recs are gonna be really good b/c one is coming from the school principal(personal) and he really likes me, another is coming from an engineering/math teacher that I had for a good amount of classes in high school and I earned an A in every class I took with her (she thinks i’m very well balanced socially and academically). The last teacher recommendation is going to be coming from a history teacher who met me in the 7th grade and we’ve been really close ever since. For the essay I am a really good writer when it comes to writing from the heart and not following any specific rubric or w.e. The sat score I am going to get and you can trust me on that because I did a decent amount of work for the 2080, and I can only go up from here. The only factor that I was afraid of was gpa but I think the upward trend as you guys said is really good. Also I go to some bs academies which are really hard and we had 1 kid last year get into columbia ED with a 3.4 and a 2100. Also I am not applying ANYWHERE if i get into columbia ED i just wanted to see where I am right now. Please don’t take anything I say negatively guys I just want to know my chances and by no means intend to offend or make myself sound conceited as I am really a humble guy if you got to meet me :/

Listen: If you get a 2300 SAT, bring your GPA way up, and write amazing essays, you have a chance just like anyone else… also keep in mind that some teachers may love you, but that doesn’t mean they will write stunning recommendations (but they might - just pointing that out)… Just remember that the acceptance rate at Yale is a mere 7% and only slightly higher at Columbia, so even with amazing stats, it will be difficult to get in. btw, you don’t have any hooks. The SAT is not something that you can study for and automatically get a 2300+. This is extremely hard and if everybody just had to work really hard they could do it, but its not possible. Apply to Yale and Columbia and wherever else you want to but make sure you have some reasonable schools and safeties as well. My ultimate advice to you… yes, prepare for the SAT but don’t kill yourself: enjoy your last summer during high school! It will be over before you know it. Even if you don’t go to an Ivy, there are many other great colleges out there.

Why don’t you get off the forums and start working. You need to. I got your SAT score when I was in like 8th grade, so you’re nothing special. And you’re being really annoying and I doubt your public school is even that hard, so you should be blasting out 3.95’s and 4.0’s not this stupid 3.4-3.6 crap. Your ECs are far from outstanding and just because you’re the first of your ‘siblings’ to join, doesn’t guarantee anything. It only slightly helps if your parents also didn’t go to college. I also bet you take AP’s like AP Stat, or Micro or Macro, or Art History or something easy and crappy like that. Go for NYU or UChicago. Yes I’m mean, get used to it. And the way you type definitely indicates you as a “good” writer. Look at all the run on sentences, abbreviations, and such and such. Have fun writing your essays - oh wait you’re stealing them.

Idk about macro micro( i agree with you on stats) but art history is ridiculously difficult at least at my school. That was the first time i ever saw the valedictorian sweat over a test.

ap art is a joke IMO… sry.

do you mean AP Studio Art or AP Art History?

you have the WRONG attitude brotha (teehee)
2.LOW sat scores
3.GPA?? most people getting accepted into those schools have 4.5’s (some do have less)
4.Where in the world are your safety schools? *My cousin was validictorian with a 4.8 gpa, president of NHS, winner of several national competitions, speech and debate president, student class vp, AND a merit finalist. he had a heart of GOLD. yet, he didn’t get accepted into 4/5 of his schools. he went to a state college.
-WORD OF ADVICE- be careful. you never know with ivies…

i think you have a chance…those schools like to see upward grade trends. just play up your ecs as much as possible and try to bring up your SAT. i wouldnt bet everything on this though.

art hist
ten char

stoompy, don’t be ■■■■■■■■. The difficulty of a class is almost entirely dependent on the teacher and his or her grading method. Yes, some material is easier than other material but a teacher can make almost any class hard (except perhaps stats hehe).
