Chance Me!!!!!!!!!!

SAT: 550CR 700 M 650 W
Mostly AP and Honor Classes
3.7 as of right now.

English as a second language.

Senior Year AP: Cal Chem Lit Econ and Psychology

EC: TSA 3 years and 50 hours of community service

This is for a friend.

I’m no expert but I think he may need to bring his SAT score up a bit. I suppose the math is OK but the CR is really low

The GPA could maybe use a small boost, but I think it’s acceptable.

Aaaand as for ECs…is that all he’s done? GT has a whole section on ECs and leadership so he may want to join a few other things his senior year.

Overall, I’d say slight reach.

Well our school math coach said that Tech counts Math vs Cr as a ratio of 5 to 1…so basically they take the math score and x it by 5 and CR x 1. It was kinda confusing, but I just want to make sure or if anyone have any other suggestion.

Well, never heard 5x. I know at one time, Tech used formula 2x SAT math + SAT verb + GPA, but never 5x. No sure Tech is still use that.

that was from a decade or two ago… don’t think that is used anymore. the new SAT writing is used, so that old formula doesn’t even include that.

Are you in-state or out-of-state?

Tech was a hot school last year, with apps up 10+% over the year before. With the girl/guy ratio improving to 33% for the freshmen, an awesome football team and a basketball team with 5-6 great recruits, including #1 Derrick Favors, it’s likely that applications will go up again. So, who knows what your chances really are! Depends on who else applies…

He is an instate student .

I thought Tech does not look at the witting part of the new SAT.

Ga tech student newspaper Technique article on incoming freshman at Tech.

Here is highlighted.

40% out of stater + international probably due to financial budget

33+% female highest percentage ever

roughly 2000 SAT (1365 old scale) for incoming fall freshman.

Start count writing portion of SAT this year.
