I've just sent off the last of my applications, so I think it's high time to begin idly speculating for the next four months...

White male from NC, USA

GPA: 4.63 weighted, 4.0 unweighted

Rank: 16ish/251 (I transferred into my current school from a smaller one before my junior year, so there are a lot of people in front of me now who had the chance to take, say, honors level math and science classes in 9th and 10th grade, which I didn't get at my last school.)

SAT: 1530/2330 780CR 750M 800W
Subjects: Taking USH and Literature in January; due to some unfortunate circumstances I've had to keep pushing them back. I anticipate they'll be pretty good though.

APs: after graduation, 7 (Euro, Psych, US Gov&Politics, Calc AB, Art History, Earth&Environmental, English)
Euro exam was a 5, I took Psych and Gov as classes in 11th grade but not the exams because of some financial issues

ECAs:
Quiz Bowl (team captain 10th, qualified for national championship 11th)
NHS (treasurer)
Interact
Students Taking Action Now: Darfur (Darfur advocacy group; Executive Council member)
Model UN
varsity soccer (9th and 10th; lettered both years)
Poetry Club (co-president)
Writing Center staff (my school started this this year, basically peer reviews and other help on essays and written assignments)
tutor at a local middle school
ran two blogs, including one with a staff of 6
The Bear Growl student newspaper (9th grade only; asst. editor)
The West Word (NC Governor's School student newspaper; editor and chief of layout and design)
National Novel Writing Month (wasn't sure where to put this on my applications - I wrote a 50,000 word novel in a month, and though the final product wasn't great, I'm proud of the accomplishment. It's harder than it sounds.)

Awards:
school level - a handful of class-specific and GPA awards, Junior Marshal
state level - NC Governor's School (residential summer program for 800 of NC's best students; I studied English)
national level - National Merit semi-finalist

I rather liked my essays, and I think they were very good.
Recommendations should be excellent.

Chances for:
UNC-Chapel Hill
Wake Forest
Davidson
William & Mary
Rice
Washington-St. Louis
Stanford

Thanks.
