Do I have a GOOD shot at admission? Or is it iffy at best?

I think that you’re ACT dominates. You might want to pick up the pace your senior year. You want a cumulative GPA of 4.01 on average. Nice SAT II though! Since you’re in state, you have a decent shot but decent is subjective.

Well, looking at my classmates who got in this year…, I’d say you’re VERY likely to get in.
Heck, I didn’t even have as high of a GPA as you & I got into Echols.

Market yourself well in your essays and you’re golden. :)

One variable will be the rigor of classes taken based on what was available to you at your particular school. Someone could be accepted with 3 AP classes, however very few were offered at their school. If you have a very wide offering of AP classes at your school make sure you maximize the opportunities available to you.
I truly believe there is not a bias against certain areas of the state, however if you are in a county that has extensive opportunities to go above and beyond and you choose not to, your transcript may look very much like a student from another part of the state who did not have these extended classes… you will be judged more ‘harshly’ (for lack of a better word).
I am not saying that you have not taken the hardest classes available to you. I am only pointing out that it will be a factor in your admission and should not be overlooked when planning your classes for next year. Good luck to you! UVa is an awesome school!!

Sounds like you are doing all you can to put in a top notch application package! If UVa feels right to you then no one would argue that, but no reason to be scared of VT. It’s quite a nice campus. You can always visit if you have friends that go :). The school you choose has to be right for you! Good luck!!
