I just wanted to thank everyone for the outstanding replies to my original post. Based on this thread, Dartmouth people are really nice All the response have really helped me, and my daughter, put things into perspective and map out a plan for her applications.
@nhtigerdad just my anecdotal experience as someone who grew up in the area, and knows(n) numerous people at both schools. No one talks about Ottawa as a greater option than Concordia, or vice versa. Certain faculties or teachers may well be better at one school or the other.
Queens, OTOH, is considered a cut above those two. In the past, that was were the elites from Toronto and Ottawa sent their kids. Again, it depends on the faculty somewhat.
As I said earlier, both Ottawa and Concordia are places where you can get a good education. If you can take the cold, Ottawa is a nice city. Being the nation's capitol it has all sorts of museums, galleries, and amenities, but more of a small town feel than Montreal. Don't mean to talk you out of Ottawa.
McGill’s rep speaks for itself. Demanding, but most students seem to love it once they get the rhythm of the place.
Good luck!!
