chance my D for FALL 2012

My daughter is applying to Bio-Medical engineering major and has folloowing statistics

She is OOS applicant
GPA : 3.53 UW

SAT I = 2240 in one sitting

SAT II = 790 M, 750 Bio and 740 Chem

She is attending competative school and her school ranks within 100 in the nation.

She took 4 Aps and 3 Honor courses in total.

She did volunteering for over 200+ hours at children's hospital.

your response is appreciated.

I had very similar stats and I was accepted – I am in-state though.

Thnak u for your reply and good to know that you are in with the similar kind of statistics.
However, you are in state and you should have some edge over OOS applicants.
Is anyone out of the state with the similar statistics, preferably California applicants?

The GPA is slightly low, although the rest of the application is pretty strong. If her essays are solid, I’d say she’s in.

SAT scores are very strong, but keep in mind that UW completely ignores SAT IIs.
best of luck.

Yes, you’re correct. even you don’t have to fill in SAT II scores in the app.
Another question is that how do they weigh upper trend in the grades? My daughter’s GPA increased from 3.0 to 4.0 between 10th and 11th grade. Is this anyway going to help her?
Also, do they consider 12th grade GPA in the admisiion process?

Yes, they’ll love that your daughter’s GPA rose like that. Good job to her!

Admissions doesn’t consider 12th grade GPA; they’ll just look at the final transcripts once the student has accepted admissions to make sure the student passed classes, didn’t change their schedule to a lot easier one second semester, etc…
